Kelly Clarkson does a 180 after major NBC return confirmed: ‘She’s baaaaack’

Kelly Clarkson sent fans into a meltdown after announcing her return to NBC, three months after she revealed she would exit her eponymous daytime talk show at the end of the current season.

The 44-year-old has signed up to be a coach on season 30 of The Voice, making this her first back-to-back appearance since 2023.

Kelly originally appeared as a coach on the NBC show from seasons 14 to 21. She returned for season 23 but then quit and moved to NYC with her two kids, River and Remy, following her divorce from Brandon Blackstock, who passed away in August 2025 following a battle with melanoma.

She returned as a coach last year for season 29, and now, following her departure from The Kelly Clarkson Show at the end of season seven, she will be back in the red chair this fall for season 30.

NBC announced the news on Instagram, sharing a montage of Kelly’s greatest moments on the hit singing competition show, alongside the tagline: “She’s baaaaack.”

The caption added: “Team Kelly has RE-entered the chat. Kelly Clarkson returns as a Coach this fall on The Voice! on NBC and streaming on Peacock.”

Fans were elated by the news, with one commenting: “The Queen is back!” A second said: “Thank the heavens she’s back ahhhh.” A third added: “BEST. NEWS. EVER. Kelly is her.”

Kelly will join previously announced coach, Adam Levine, and potentially two others, who are yet to be announced.

The news means Kelly will still be a fixture on TV, despite announcing in February that she is leaving her Emmy Award-winning talk show in the fall of 2026 after seven seasons on the air.

The mother of two shared the unexpected news via Instagram, with the words printed on a colorful pink background. “I have been extremely fortunate to work with such an outstanding group of people at The Kelly Clarkson Show, both in Los Angeles and New York,” she began.

“There have been so many amazing moments and shows over these seven seasons. I am forever grateful and honored to have worked alongside the greatest band and crew you could hope for, all the talent and inspiring people who have shared their time and lives with us, all the fans who have supported our show and to NBC for always being such a supportive and incredible partner.”

Kelly continued: “This was not an easy decision, but this season will be my last hosting The Kelly Clarkson Show. Stepping away from the daily schedule will allow me to prioritize my kids, which feels necessary and right for this next chapter of our lives.

“This isn’t goodbye. I’ll still be making music, playing shows here and there, and you may catch me on The Voice from time to time…you never know where I might show up next.”

Kelly concluded: “For now, I want to thank y’all so much for allowing our show to be a part of your lives, and for believing in us and hanging with us for seven incredible years.”
