A Birmingham man who raped and installed cameras in his victim’s home has been jailed for more than 10 years.
Mark Williams, 40, abused a woman and limited her contact with her family and friends in a campaign lasting months.
He even installed hidden cameras so he could watch her every move.

The victim’s living hell came to an end when she bravely came forward in September 2024, disclosing she had been raped by Williams at an address in Walsall.
During a video-recorded interview, she told officers that Williams controlled her finances, contact with her friends and family and fitted concealed cameras in her home.

The woman was able to show officers text messages from Williams, and we were able to gather supporting evidence from family members.
West Midlands Police arrested Williams three days after the woman came forward and was then consequently charged with rape and engaging in controlling and coercive behaviour.
At an earlier hearing, Williams of Hockley Close, Newtown, admitted the charges partway through a trial at Birmingham Crown Court.
He has now been sentenced to 10 years and two months in jail.
Detective Constable Daniel Folley, Public Protection Unit, said: “The woman in this case has been pivotal to securing a conviction for Williams. She has shown incredible bravery and resilience during the process.
“Coercive and controlling behaviour can develop over time during a relationship and can make it difficult for people to come forward. We encourage people who see victims of coercive behaviour and notice the signs to report it to us.”
