Following Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor’s arrest on Thursday, the royal family is continuing their public-facing work.
In what one insider said is being seen as a clear message that “the show must go on,” King Charles and Queen Camilla both appeared at engagements on Thursday. Queen Camilla visited London’s Sinfonia Smith Square Hall (she is the concert hall’s royal patron), where she met with musicians and took in a concert shortly. Elsewhere, King Charles made a surprise appearance at London Fashion Week, sitting front row at British-Nigerian designer Tolu Coker’s show.
Soon after Mountbatten-Windsor’s arrest, King Charles expressed his “deepest concern” in a statement.
“I have learned with the deepest concern the news about Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor and suspicion of misconduct in public office,” Charles said. “What now follows is the full, fair and proper process by which this issue is investigated in the appropriate manner and by the appropriate authorities. In this, as I have said before, they have our full and wholehearted support and co-operation.”
“Let me state clearly: the law must take its course. As this process continues, it would not be right for me to comment further on this matter. Meanwhile, my family and I will continue in our duty and service to you all.”
