Eva Green was rushed to hospital after an accident on the set of the Netflix series Wednesday, according to reports.

The French actor, best known for her role as Vesper Lynd in the 2006 James Bond outing Casino Royale, was said to be “in pain” after the “nasty” accident, but is now recovering well.

Green joined the cast of Wednesday, a series based on characters from The Addams Family, for its forthcoming third season, playing Wednesday’s aunt, Ophelia Frump.

The Sun reported that Green suffered a leg injury during production of the show, which is taking place near Dublin.

A source told the outlet: “This was really nasty. Eva sustained an injury and was clearly in pain and producers were taking no chances.

“Medics were called and Eva went to hospital. She underwent treatment and is now recovering well.”

Production was said to be halted while the 45-year-old star was undergoing treatment earlier this month.

The Independent has contacted representatives of Green and Netflix for comment.

Wednesday stars Jenna Ortega as the titular Addams teenager, and Catherine Zeta-Jones as her mother, Morticia. The series has been an unbridled success for Netflix, and ranks among its most-watched original series ever.

Green’s character was first teased during season two, when she was shown from behind writing the words: “Wednesday must die.”

Speaking about her forthcoming role on the show, Green previously said: “I can’t wait to bring my own touch of cuckoo-ness to the Addams Family. This show is such a deliciously dark and witty world.”

Also set to join the cast for season three are Winona Ryder, Chris Sarandon, Noah Taylor, Oscar Morgan, and Kennedy Moyer, with Lena Headey, Andrew McCarthy, and James Lance recently announced as guest stars.

Wednesday’s second season received mixed reviews from critics, including The Independent’s Nick Hilton, who awarded it three stars.

“At its heart, which is far less oozing and dark than it professes, Wednesday continues to be frightfully formulaic: a fish out of water, coming of age tale with a side helping of murder mystery and scoop of the supernatural for good measure,” he wrote.

“Soap opera machinations drive the plot exactly where you think, when you think. What seems on the surface shiny and new is really a Frankenstein’s monster of countless teen hits: Emily in Paris meets X-Men meets Veronica Mars meets Riverdale, all stitched up in style.”
