Elon Musk has split from his partner Shivon Zilis, the mother of four of his youngest children, “with no warning.”
In a lengthy statement posted to X, along with their last text messages, she wrote that it was “hard to go from in love to let go in a week with no warning, but that’s just how it is sometimes.”
The tech executive, whose tweet came in response to a bot that confirmed Elon had unfollowed Shivon, went on to share that her time with Elon left her “beyond grateful for our children and they make every single day the best day of my life,” and added: “I do hope and pray he and I can be great friends and co-parents.”
However, the majority of the statement revealed how she had impacted Elon’s life, writing: “I feel happy that I got to show Elon how it feels to be deeply understood, nurtured, and peacefully loved with stability and gentleness.
“Given the tumultuous nature of his early life, his often tortured soul, and how hard he fights for humanity I wanted him to feel the deepest and most stable form of love this world can provide. My heart is full knowing I got to do that, and I hope it leaves a lasting good effect.”
Shivon also shared their last text message, from September 24, 2026, in which she told him it was “wonderful” to see him for breakfast and that she loved him “very much,” to which he responded: “Love you too.”
He also apologized for not taking her to a White House dinner, saying he didn’t know “significant others” were invited.
Elon and Shivon welcomed fraternal twins Strider and Azure in 2021, daughter Arcadia in 2024, and their youngest, son Seldon, whose birth was announced in early 2025.
When Shivon first told colleagues that she and Elon were expecting twins in 2021, she claimed they were not romantically involved and that their children were conceived through in vitro fertilization (IVF).
“We were always his safe space. A place where all of us were overjoyed to see him and one that was always full of happiness and love, not war, in contrast to his otherwise militant existence (a needed break from the battlefield where he could recharge his heart and soul before heading back out),” she continued.
“I loved being that counterbalancing place of safety, sense of calm, and love — and delighted in bringing a smile back to his face when he was down. I will miss him dearly.”
“I’m hurting, but care deeply about E and will always be cheering for his happiness. God speed, Elon, the world is lucky to have you,” she concluded.
Elon is father to 14 children. He welcomed his first son, Nevada Alexander Musk, in 2002 with then-wife Justine Musk, however the baby tragically died from Sudden Infant Death Syndrome at ten weeks old.
“There is nothing worse than losing a child,” Musk wrote in an email, reported Bloomberg. “My firstborn son died in my arms. I felt his heartbeat.”
Justine and Elon went on to have twins, Griffin and Vivian, in 2004, and triplets, conceived via IVF, Kai, Saxon and Damian, in 2006.
Vivian legally changed her name and sex when she turned 18 after identifying as a female. Court documents posted online read that her reasoning was “gender identity and the fact that I no longer live with or wish to be related to my biological father in any way, shape or form”.
In May 2020, Elon and partner Grimes welcomed their first child together, who they named X Æ A-12, but they later changed their son’s name X Æ A-XII in order to comply with California law.
Months after Shivon and Elon welcomed their twins in 2021, Grimes revealed in March 2022 she had welcomed a second child, a daughter named Exa Dark Sideræl Musk, and in September 2023, they welcomed a third child, a son named Techno Mechanicus.
In February 2025, right-wing influencer Ashley St. Clair revealed that she had welcomed a son, Romulus, with Elon in September 2024. It was around the same time that Shivon welcomed their fourth child, son, Seldon.
