Kathy Griffin has revealed she spent the night in the hospital after complications from a colonoscopy procedure.

The 65-year-old comic addressed the health scare in an Instagram post shared Thursday, quipping in the caption: “A not so tech savvy update.”

In the first slide, she shared a note that read: “Well, the sound got screwed up, but I made this video for you guys because I’m TMI anyway.

“I spent the night in the hospital because I had complications from my colonoscopy. I know, I know very sexy,” Griffin said, adding that she is “home now with the doggies where I belong.”

Colonoscopy screenings are procedures in which a doctor passes a flexible tube with a video camera through the colon to check for colorectal cancer. They are recommended regularly for older adults as the first step in the prevention of the highly treatable and often curable disease.

Griffin’s post was flooded with supportive comments and well-wishes for a speedy recovery.

“Take it easy. Sending love and healing vibes,” one person wrote, with a second adding, “Ugh… I’m so sorry this has happened. Bounce back, dear Kathy.”

“All that matters is that you are better and home!! Keep resting,” another said.

Griffin is best known for her eponymous six-season Bravo reality series, Kathy Griffin: My Life on the D-List, which ran from 2005 to 2010. She has also released 21 stand-up specials throughout her career, for which she has won two Emmys. She was honored in 2013 with the Guinness World Record for the most stand-up specials by a comedian following the release of her 20th special, Kathy Griffin: Record Breaker.

The stand-up comedian has been open in the past about her numerous health challenges. In August 2021, she disclosed that she had been diagnosed with Stage 1 lung cancer. At the time, she shared that she was undergoing surgery to remove half of her left lung. By December of that year, she announced that she was cancer-free.

Last August, Griffin told Instagram followers that she had undergone a hysterectomy following a pre-cancerous screening.

“I had a hysterectomy on Friday, that’s right they took out the uterus, the fallopian tubes & the ovaries,” she wrote at the time. “Pre-cancerous, blah blah blah.”

Griffin is not the only celebrity to recently share that they experienced complications from a colonoscopy.

“I actually had kind of a botched colonoscopy, so I’m not feeling very sexual,” Amy Schumer said Sunday at a Dear Media event.

While there are are many excellent blogs devoted to the topics of faith, humanism, atheism, political viewpoints, and wider kinds of rationalism and philosophical doubt, those are not the only focus here.Im going to blog about what ever comes to my mind in a day.
