Logan Paul, 31, is a popular social media influencer and professional wrestler with over 23 million subscribers on his main YouTube channel and more than 26 million followers on Instagram.
He recently shared an interesting story while interviewing Bryce Crawford, a Christian street evangelist, on IMPAULSIVE, Logan’s second YouTube channel.
In the wide ranging interview, Logan shared how he went through one of his darkest times after he “mocked God.”
In an article for the The Christian Post, Leonardo Blair writes that although Logan didn’t specify exactly what he had done, Blair suspected it involved a 2022 podcast, where Logan publicly mocked the Christian faith of George Janko, who was co-hosting the show at that time.
Logan even suggested that Janko should see a therapist because, in his view, Janko was not becoming the kind of Christian Jesus would approve of. Logan immediately faced a backlash from his followers for the way he treated Janko.
But according to Logan, there was more to the story: shortly afterward he felt the wrath of God shortly after because he had not only disrespected Janko, but God as well.
“It was pretty dark. Basically, actually, on this podcast … I felt like I had disrespected God. I had mocked God,” Logan said.
“I shortly thereafter felt the wrath of God. It was crazy. It was almost instantaneous. And at the time I was just like, why is all this happening right now? How is this possible? It was dark. It was the darkest time of my life,” Logan continued.
Logan said it occurred during a trip to Qatar which took place three weeks after the episode. During the tour, which included multiple events, he said God humbled him.
“We started off in Qatar. I got violent food poisoning. I got a $20,000 camera taken away. We land in Qatar, camera stripped. It’s just little things here and there, things are showing up. We mis-scheduled. Again, got violent f#$@&%* food poisoning, next day got alcohol poisoning. Our luggage was delayed, so we had no clothes to get to events,” Logan said.
Logan believed he experienced God’s wrath for defaming both Jesus and God. He later apologized on a 2023 podcast for what he had done to Janko.
Logan added that as a child he attended church with his religious mother, but never connected with faith in the way she did.
It was clear from the interview that Logan believed he experienced God’s wrath.
But a verse from the book of Hebrews adds another dimension to this story: “For whom the Lord loves He disciplines (Hebrews 12:6).
In other words, when a person experiences what may be God’s discipline it’s not a sign that God hates them, rather, it’s an indicator of God’s love. If this is what happened, it could suggest that God is trying to get Logan’s attention.
