Queen Camilla was reminded of a very special moment on Thursday when she visited The Fan Museum in Greenwich. The 78-year-old wife of King Charles made the trip to open the Monarchy exhibition.
During her visit, the Queen was presented with the fan that features in her official Coronation portrait by Paul Benney, who was there in person to witness it. It was Paul who chose to include the fan, which was commissioned by the Worshipful Company of Fan Makers to mark the Coronation, in his portrait.
A historic portrait
On Thursday, it was formally presented to Her Majesty by Master of the Livery Dinesh Naidu. The Duchess of Gloucester, also a Liveryman of the Worshipful Company of Fan Makers, joined Camilla at The Fan Museum for the occasion and viewed the exhibition, which features around 80 fans spanning three centuries of royal history, including two from Camilla’s personal collection.
The outing reminded not only Camilla but also royal fans of the skill involved in Paul Benney’s portrait. “That portrait is just stunning. A masterpiece!,” wrote one royal follower on Instagram, while another added: “That portrait is exquisite.”
A third penned: “Really beautiful artwork, the details are amazing.”
Kicking off garden party season
The outing to The Fan Museum came after Camilla attended her first Buckingham Palace Garden Party of 2026 on Wednesday.
The Queen looked pristine in an icy blue Fiona Clare coat dress featuring intricate embroidery running down the front and around the cuffs.
Her large Philip Treacy hat came in the same pastel hue, and for her shoes, Camilla added capped-toe pumps by Chanel. A white Launer London clutch rounded off her look and matched her white gloves perfectly.
Queen Camilla’s most flattering shade
She previously wore the same Fiona Clare dress and Philip Treacy hat combo on Easter Sunday in 2025. In wearing this tone, Camilla dresses perfectly for her palette.
“She looks her best when she leans into a cool and refined elegance,” Susie Hasler, a colour expert and award-winning personal stylist who runs Styled By Susie, told us previously.
“I love her in icy blues, soft berry reds, and gentle sage greens, shades that echo her cool undertones without demanding attention.”
The fashion expert explained: “When she dresses in her summer palette, everything feels in balance. These lighter, cooler shades give her a polished, serene presence, proof that dressing with harmony rather than drama often creates the most powerful impression.”
