ASUS’s ROG has just announced a range of new Strix laptops at Computex 2026. This series of laptops is well-loved in the games space, known for strong performance, fun customization, and reliable cooling. Here’s a look at the three new Strix models announced, with key specs and everything you need to know.
ROG Strix G16
The first laptop in the lineup is the new ROG Strix G16. Designed for high-speed performance, this laptop has a 300Hz refresh rate, a 3ms response time and full DCI-P3 colour coverage.
Something I find particularly interesting in each laptop is its implementation of AGLR Technology in its Nebula Displays. This is a type of anti-glare, low reflection tech that reduces screen glare without imapcting color richness, which is particularly prevalent in OLED displays. As someone who works with PCs all day, every day, I find this particularly helpful.
Key specifications include:
- Memory and Storage: 32GB+32GB DDR5 6400 MT/s RAM (high-speed memory for multitasking and performance), 2TB PCIe Gen 4.0 SSD (fast storage for quicker load times), with one additional slot for upgrades. For gamers, this means you can run multiple high-intensity programs at once, switch between them instantly, and install tons of AAA titles without worrying about space or slowdowns. Connectivity: Thunderbolt 5 (a high-speed port for fast data transfer and connecting external devices) and WIFI 7. You’ll get faster downloads, smoother streaming and high-speed online gaming.
Design and features include tool-free access with a Q-latch (a mechanism that lets you open the case and upgrade components without tools), and Volt Green and Eclipse Gray Aura RGB lighting (customizable built-in colored lighting).
ROG Strix G18
The ROG Strix G18 (G815) is a bit of a step up in terms of display. Here, you’ve got a 2.5K Mini LED panel, with a 240Hz refresh rate, 100% DCI-P3, and the same AGLR Technology as before.
Performance, memory, and cooling are on par with the G16, but just powering a bigger screen. Some people prefer it bigger, what can I say?
ROG Strix SCAR 18
The ROG Strix SCAR 18 (2026 model) is the flagship model announced at Computex 2026, combining top-tier specs, advanced display technology, and powerful cooling. Built for gamers seeking maximum performance, this is a great choice if you want to play the latest AAA on max quality.
Specs include:
- Processor & GPU: Up to Intel® Core Ultra 9 290HX Plus processor (one of the newest, fastest CPUs) with 200W Sustained Power and an NVIDIA® GeForce RTX 5090 Laptop GPU
- Memory and storage: 64GB+64GB DDR5 6400 MT/s RAM, 14% faster than DDR5 5600 MT/s) and 4TB+4TB Gen5 SSDs (up to 14GB/s). This means you can multitask efficiently, play games and capture gameplay without worrying about space or speed.
The 4K screen is ultra-sharp and ultra-bright. You might wonder if these enhanced specs would lead to overheating, but its advanced cooling lets you play for hours at high settings without any issues. Plus, one of my favorite parts of the Strix laptops is the AniMe Vision LED panel, which lets you customize animations on your laptop’s lid. Neat!
ASUS’ range of announcements from Computex 2026 means there’s something here for every gamer. There’s currently no information on pre-orders or price, so keep checking the official ASUS website for updates!
