How a boy and his eagle in Mongolia inspired Siyuan Aw’s debut picture book

He is also already at work on his next book, incidentally bird-themed as well. Unlike the stark, sparse landscapes of Mongolia, the treatment this time is lush, bold and tropical. Inspired by his travels in the Amazon and the Andes, it will draw on myth, magic and indigenous knowledge, where hornbills serve as plant teachers and spiritual messengers. Incidentally, a pair of them has recently taken to visiting his home, sometimes perching on his canvas. Beyond that, he refuses to say more. “I shan’t break the spell,” he said with a laugh. Why Miranda Bailey Backs Greek Film ‘The Boy With the Light-Blue Eyes’

To say that Miranda Bailey (The Diary of a Teenage Girl, God’s Country) likes to play it safe would just be insane. Through her production firm Cold Iron Pictures, the producer-actress-writer-director has backed the likes of Swiss Army Man, the Daniels’ surreal comedy about a stranded man, played by Paul Dano, on the verge of suicide who befriends a flatulent corpse, portrayed by Daniel Radcliffe. And at Sundance 2025, the company premiered Amanda Kramer’s By Design, starring Melanie Griffith as narrator and Juliette Lewis as a woman who swaps bodies with a chair. Bailey is currently in the British capital for SXSW London, where she is a producer on another genre-bending film, along with Ioanna Bolomyti, Elizabeth Woodward, Lauren Mann, Yannis Economides, Vladimir Anastasov, Angela Nestorovska, Zvonimir Munivrana, Maja Popovic Milojevic and Irina Malcea-Candea. The movie is The Boy With the Light-Blue Eyes, the feature film debut of Greek writer-director Thanasis Neofotistos, which world premiered as part of the Screen Festival of SXSW London 2026 on Thursday evening. The cinematic allegory for exclusion and the desire for love and freedom, which can …

‘Boy,’ queer anthems, AIDS, horror movies

Book of Love — the Philadelphia-bred synth-pop quartet best known for the hypnotic 1985 single “Boy” — are releasing a 40th anniversary reissue of their landmark debut album on June 26, just in time for Pride. The band emerged from Philadelphia’s art school scene in 1983, relocating to New York’s East Village at a moment when the downtown creative world was colliding with the nascent synth-pop revolution. Their early break came as the opening act for two Depeche Mode tours in 1985 and 1986, exposing them to massive audiences who recognized a kindred sensibility. Their music built on tubular bells and deadpan vocals and an emotional undertow that felt unlike anything else in the American pop landscape. They never became household names, but in queer clubs and on college radio they built a following that has proven remarkably durable Ahead of a sold-out 10-city fall tour with all four original members, The Hollywood Reporter caught up with songwriter and keyboardist Ted Ottaviano and lead singer Susan Ottaviano (no relation) over Zoom. Boy Mom Does Not Get The Response She Intended After Sharing Video Of Photoshoot With Her Toddler

However, the response wasn’t what this mom intended at all when she shared the footage. A boy mom does not get the response she intended after sharing the video of a photoshoot with her toddler.
