Prince Harry’s longstanding fear of being ‘overshadowed’ by Prince William’s children

Prince Harry feared his brother Prince William’s three children would “overshadow” him, a royal biographer has claimed.  The Prince and Princess of Wales’ three children – Prince George, 12, Princess Charlotte, 11, and Prince Louis, eight – have grown up in the public eye, just like their uncle. But in recent months, the limelight has been on George in particular as he is set to embark on his secondary studies in September at a still undisclosed school. Amid speculation over the young royal’s future education, royal biographer Andrew Morton alleges that the Duke of Sussex has long been concerned about his niece and nephews eclipsing him. “The issue that always concerned Prince Harry, that he would be overshadowed by his brother’s children, is coming true”, he claimed to the Daily Mail’s Palace Confidential. The biographer also weighed in on Oundle School in Northamptonshire as a potential pick for where the young royal could be studying next. © Samir Hussein./WireImageThe Prince and Princes of Wales with their three children: Louis, Charlotte and George George’s school Prince William recently …

Russia ‘abducting children and training them to fight on frontline’ | World | News

President Volodymyr Zelensky has claimed Russian soldiers are attempting to abduct and train Ukrainian children to fight on the frontlines. The Ukrainian leader made the claim in a recent interview where he outlined how Russian soldiers were, under orders from Vladimir Putin, kidnapping the children and turning them against their home country. Speaking to CBS News, Mr Zelensky said: “When these children grow up, they push these boys to the battlefield.” He went on to claim that he has “evidence of it” happening but did not provide any further details. Mr Zelensky went on to outline how Russia had been offering to trade the children for soldiers captured on the battlefield. He said: “It’s important to get back our warriors, war prisoners, but we can’t exchange them [for] the children. “Can you imagine, how we can exchange our children? We can’t. First of all, it’s out of the law. We can’t exchange civilians.” The president also told CBS that Ukraine has documented the abduction of at least 20,000 Ukrainian children, and wants help tracking down …

But doctors say that shouldn’t mean there’s no bedtime. Sleep is incredibly important for developing brains and bodies, and federal guidance says children aged 12 and below need 9-12 hours a night. Getting enough sleep also protects from the risk of developing chronic disease, suffering from mental illness and being injured. That’s why it’s crucial for kids participating in sports and other activities to have a bedtime even during the break, Cleveland Clinic sleep specialist Dr. Brian Chen said Friday. ‘I am very serious about being silly’: children’s illustrators on the art of storytelling | Children and teenagers

Spread across a sprawling 17th-century industrial complex in London’s Clerkenwell, the Quentin Blake Centre for Illustration, which opens next month, is being billed as the largest institution of its kind anywhere in the world: a permanent national home for an art form that shapes everything from children’s books and political cartoons to animation, fashion, advertising and digital culture. Part museum, part gallery and part creative laboratory, the centre represents an extraordinary attempt to drag illustration out of the margins and finally place it at the heart of British cultural life. The Gruffalo by Julia Donaldson and Axel Scheffler. Illustration: Axel Scheffler Eventually the centre will become home to Blake’s own enormous archive: 40,000 drawings created by one of the UK’s best-known and most immediately recognisable artists. Now 93, Blake has spent three-quarters of a century bringing the words of some of our most beloved authors to life. Roald Dahl is the big one, of course – it’s impossible to think of Dahl without seeing Blake’s energetic, dip-pen pictures – but the list also includes Michael Rosen, John Yeoman, Sylvia Plath and …

Trump Tells Agencies to Align With Study Calling for Narrower Childhood Vaccine Recommendations

Trump Tells Agencies to Align With Study Calling for Narrower Childhood Vaccine Recommendations

WASHINGTON (AP) — President Donald Trump on Friday gave his endorsement to a January study by the Department of Health and Human Services that calls for cutting the number of vaccines recommended for every American child. An executive order from Trump directs federal agencies to align their policies behind the study, which recommended an overhaul long called for by Health Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. The study found that the United States recommends more childhood vaccines than many peer nations. The study recommends vaccinating all children against 11 diseases. Several others would be recommended only for high-risk groups or when doctors recommend them in what’s called “shared decision-making.” That includes vaccines for flu, rotavirus, hepatitis A, hepatitis B, some forms of meningitis and RSV. Trump’s order adds weight behind the study at a time when the administration had appeared to be trying to shift focus away from Kennedy’s more contentious vaccine policies and toward more mainstream topics like healthy eating. The order directs the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention to review the study and …

RIVERSIDE, Calif. (AP) — A California mother has been sentenced to more than 12 years in prison after pleading guilty to child endangerment and other charges related to the death of her 7-month-old son. The Press-Enterprise reports that on Friday, Rebecca Haro was sentenced in Riverside to 12 years and eight months in prison after pleading guilty to child endangerment causing great bodily injury, involuntary manslaughter and accessory after the fact. Authorities said they believed Haro knew or suspected her son, Emmanuel, was being abused by his father and failed to act. Haro didn’t address the court during her sentencing hearing. The boy went missing last August and has not been found. The couple reported Emmanuel was kidnapped outside a store in Southern California, claiming Rebecca Haro was attacked and left unconscious while changing the boy’s diaper. They were arrested a little more than a week later at their home in Cabazon, some 20 miles (32 kilometers) west of Palm Springs.
