Craig Melvin couldn’t help but smile. The Today Show host went gaga on the Third Hour, sharing baby news he knew fans would love.
Craig, 47, who has two children, Delano, 12, and Sybil, nine, with wife Lindsay Czarniak, announced the 2026 Gerber Baby on Tuesday, June 2. “This morning, an exclusive and adorable reveal,” the anchor teased before his co-anchor Dylan Dreyer added: “[The winner of the 2026 Gerber Baby contest] is 10-month old Cameron Chung from Minnesota!”
The adorable tot was joined by his parents, Rachael Olsen and Alden Chung and stole the heart of everyone on set, but especially Craig’s. During the segment, Cameron climbed into Craig’s arms and made the co-anchor laugh when he repeatedly stuck his hands in his mouth.
“You should be the Gerber Baby,” Craig said while holding Cameron. “Not just handsome, [he’s got the] personality [too].”
Cameron snuggled up with Craig for the rest of the interview, heading back to his mom’s arms with the Today host adding: “You need to get this kid some acting classes!”
How is the Gerber Baby chosen?
Every year since 1928, the baby food and baby products company has put on an extensive search for its annual Gerber Baby. Parents are asked to submit a photo of their baby capturing an expressive, everyday moment alongside a brief story.
Cameron was chosen from more than 100,000 entries submitted across the country. “[He] started very colicky for the first seven or eight months of his life, and there were still very hard moments,” Cameron’s mom Rachael explained on Today. Dad Alden added: “He was screaming for probably 80% of every single waking hour, and we would just walk laps with him, bouncing.”
The proud parents captured Cameron’s first smile, a moment prompted by the family dog just out of frame.
Cameron and his family will receive a $50,000 cash prize, a Gerber Childrenswear “Grow With Us” wardrobe valued at $2,000, and a year in the spotlight as he appears on Gerber’s social media channels and in marketing campaigns.
Craig Melvin’s children
Craig has two Gerber babies of his own. The Today Show host shares two children, Delano and Sybil, with his wife Lindsay. The couple met while working at NBC and tied the knot in 2011, three years before welcoming their son. The family lives in the suburbs of Connecticut and enjoy spending time together.
Recently, Craig took Delano and Sybil to a New York Knicks playoff game. The proud parents posed for a selfie, with Craig writing to Instagram: “Playoff basketball at the Garden just hits different. Took the family to Madison Square Garden last night to watch the Knicks take down Cleveland. The energy, the crowd, the memories…unforgettable. New York showed out!”
