BEIJING: An overloaded minivan collided with a truck in central China on Thursday (May 28), killing 13 people and injuring three, traffic police said. The van, which had a maximum capacity of nine passengers but was carrying 16, hit the rear of the truck while on an expressway in Henan province at 2.40am, the traffic management bureau of China’s Ministry of Public Security said on social media. It was driving on the G40 expressway in the city of Nanyang when it “rear-ended a semi-trailer truck travelling ahead of it”, the bureau said on the Weibo social media platform. Puerto Vallarta, a coastal resort town frequently visited by large numbers of tourists, has been rocked by the murders of three young women, local police have confirmed. As investigators examine the cases, they believe the killings could be the work of a serial killer. All of the victims were aged between their early-20s and mid-30s and had body tattoos, leading officials to suspect a possible link between the homicides. The bodies were also found partially unclothed. The first victim was discovered on 10th May near a well-known area called Rancho El Piruli, while the second was found at a roadside stop along a highway approximately a week later.
