Stephen Colbert Late Show Last Episode: Paul McCartney, Wormhole, Pope

Stephen Colbert Late Show Last Episode: Paul McCartney, Wormhole, Pope

Nine months after Stephen Colbert announced the cancellation of the long-running Late Show, he presided over the final episode of the CBS late night show, with Paul McCartney serving as his final guest after, Colbert joked, his “white whale” guest of the pope “canceled,” disappointed with the hot dogs offered in his dressing room. At the top of his monologue, the host said originally the Late Show team had planned to do a “huge special” for the final episode, but then they realized that “every episode is special.” “The best way to celebrate is to do a normal show and talk about the national conversation,” Colbert said. With that, the host launched into a news-focused monologue, frequently interrupted by star cameos from the audience, including from Bryan Cranston, Paul Rudd and Tim Meadows. Unexpectedly, though the monologue was remarkably light on politics for a show that’s become known for its cutting comedy about President Donald Trump and other political figures. In fact, Trump himself wasn’t even mentioned by name in the final Late Show, including …

Episode four: Born of Mary | LGBT rights and humanism in Britain

Episode four: Born of Mary | LGBT rights and humanism in Britain

In 1977, the campaigner Mary Whitehouse won a private prosecution against Gay News for blasphemous libel, after the paper published a poem imagining a Roman centurion’s love for the crucified Christ. It was the first successful blasphemy case in England for more than fifty years. In the backlash that followed, Whitehouse blamed her critics on an ‘intellectual gay humanist lobby’ working against her. There was no such group. Two years later, in 1979, a handful of activists decided that, if such a lobby did not exist, perhaps it should – and the Gay Humanist Group was born. Its founders called themselves, born of Mary. The phrase captures something of the long, often surprising relationship between humanism and the movement for sexual freedom that this week’s episode of Unholy Histories sets out to explore. The fourth episode of our podcast focuses on the entangled histories of humanism and LGBT rights activism in Britain; tracing how, time and again, the fights for freedom of conscience and freedom of sexuality have drawn on the same arguments, the same …

Gavin & Stacey ran for 22 episodes on the BBC between 2007 and 2024, including three Christmas specials. Corden had issues, however, with the second entry in the first series, which followed on from Gavin’s (Mathew Horne) confession of love to Stacey (Joanna Page) at the end of the series premiere. James Corden pictured in April 2026 (Getty Images) “It’s a very very very bad half hour,” he said, per Deadline. “It’s an awful episode.” Corden claimed that the problem stemmed from the writers “back[ing] ourselves into a …

Dutton Ranch release schedule: When will episode 3 be released?

Dutton Ranch release schedule: When will episode 3 be released?

We’ve now firmly entered a new chapter when it comes to the Yellowstone universe. The original series may have ended back in 2024, but we are now following the characters on their own, new journeys, in multiple spin-offs. One of these, Marshals, debuted earlier this year and is continuing to air episodes weekly, while another, Dutton Ranch is only just getting started. The first two episodes of Dutton Ranch are available to watch right now, with the series following Kelly Reilly’s Beth and Cole Hauser’s Rip following the events of the Yellowstone finale. The duo enter this new chapter hoping for a happy, peaceful existence, but Reilly has told Radio Times that “happiness is an evasive thing”. “It’s not like something that you suddenly land on and keep, and I think that’s what I was sort of leaning into,” she said. “In the seasons of Yellowstone, there were moments of Beth talking about wanting to be left alone, and how when Rip took her riding and she says, ‘All I want is a meadow, whiskey …

For All Mankind season 5 has taken an explosive turn in episode 8 – but some fans were a little distracted from the dramatic events by a certain actor’s appearance. Episode three: Morals Without Religion, the history of humanist education reforms

Episode three: Morals Without Religion, the history of humanist education reforms

Education has always been central to humanist thought, and the latest episode of Unholy Histories, the Humanist Heritage podcast from Humanists UK, traces that relationship from its Victorian roots to the present day. Hosts Andrew Copson and Madeleine Goodall are joined by Dr Lois Lee, Senior Lecturer in Secular Studies at the University of Kent, and Dr Susanna Wright, Associate Professor in the History of Education at Oxford Brookes. The Moral Instruction League, founded in 1897, sought to introduce ethical education into state schools without a theological foundation – promoting critical thinking, empathy, and citizenship for all children regardless of their background. Wright, who has spent more than two decades researching this field, explains how the league drew on teachers, curriculum writers, and energetic organisers to make the case that morality need not rest on Christian belief. Among the figures discussed are Gustaf Spiller, the Hungarian émigré whose remarkable networks and organisational drive kept the movement moving, and Frederick James Gould, a teacher and writer who travelled the country demonstrating what secular moral education could …
