In the scientific community, however, experts are skeptical of the entire premise, with some wondering whether the material truly counts as coming from the iconic Tyrannosaurus rex at all. The luxury fashion brand Burberry has said a new £2,000 handbag named after the Cotswolds has bolstered sales, as the English region becomes increasingly popular with wealthy Americans. Joshua Schulman, the company’s chief executive, said its tote bags – which mix leather and the signature Burberry check – had helped drive its best performance in bag sales since 2023. He said: “During Mother’s Day in North America the customer has been responding to our vintage check introductions and Cotswolds lines. We’ve hit a sweet spot on price and value for money in a luxury context.” The Cotswolds region, which runs through counties including Gloucestershire and Oxfordshire, has become popular with wealthy Americans, and has been referred to as the “Hamptons of England”. Schulman said Burberry had phased out its Knight bag, which was selling at more than £2,400 for certain versions, and last year had brought in the Cotswolds bags, which are priced at “around and under £2,000”. A man who stole a handbag containing a Faberge egg and watch – worth about £2m combined – has been jailed for more than two years. Police are still searching for the items after the thief refused to disclose what happened to them. Enzo Conticello, of no fixed address, made off with the bag at a pub in Soho, central London, on 7 November 2024. The items had been on display at an event earlier, but an employee of the company that owned them became Conticello’s unfortunate victim when she stopped for a drink. CCTV showed him stealing the bag, and attempting to steal another rucksack a few minutes earlier. Conticello – also known as Hakin Boudjenoune – was later seen using credit cards from the bag to buy cigarettes and other goods. He was arrested by Met detectives 12 months later after police in Belfast detained him over another theft under a different name. Conticello, 29, pleaded guilty to theft and fraud in February this year. After admitting the charges, the judge told him: …

A woman had her expensive personal items stolen off her at a busy central London station after a thief told her she had paint on her coat. Using distraction techniques to steal the items, a man approached a woman at St Pancras Station on December 27 at around 9.45am. He told her she had paint on her jacket and helped her to clean it off. However, a second man swooped in and stole her suitcase and handbag while she was distracted. The items cost more than £8,000. Police officers want to speak to these people in connection with an investigation (British Transport Police) The station is known to be a hotspot for bag thefts. Last year a thief swiped a suitcase containing £250,000 worth of jewellery and designer bags belonging to Jenson Button’s wife Brittny . Neighbouring Tube station King’s Cross St Pancras had the most recorded crimes on the Tube network in figures released last year.
