‘Euphoria’ actor has hilarious reaction to being almost completely cut from show

Blink and you’ll miss Nika King in Euphoria Season 3. The actor and comedian plays Leslie Bennett, Rue’s (Zendaya) mother. She’s appeared in some of the show’s most memorable scenes, including a visceral fight with Rue in the series-best Season 2, episode 5. SEE ALSO: How Sydney Sweeney surprised Trisha Paytas during her ‘Euphoria’ cameo By Season 3, though, Leslie has been relegated to a presence at the end of Rue’s phone. In episode 2, Rue leaves her a devastating voicemail from a gas station. In episode 6, Leslie picks up the phone, and the pair have a heart to heart about Rue hoping to come home. Mashable 101 Fan Fave: Vote for your favorite creator today! Viewers solely hear Rue’s side of the conversation, similar to her episode 3 phone call with Fezco (the late Angus Cloud) from prison. Euphoria only cuts to Leslie at the very end of the call, when she tells Rue she loves her and hangs up. It’s the one time viewers see Leslie this episode, and based on King’s …

Apple TV’s Hilarious New Horror Series Is a Small-Town Comedy Unlike Anything on TV

Apple TV’s Hilarious New Horror Series Is a Small-Town Comedy Unlike Anything on TV

It’s been a while since a horror series grabbed my attention, like really grabbed my attention. We’re living in an era where genre programming feels plentiful, yet formulaic — where the algorithm can overpower originality. It’s important to say that, because I’ve discovered a new horror show that, through its familiar-feeling aesthetic, feels fresh, original and requires my complete attention. I’m talking about Widow’s Bay on Apple TV, and if this is the first you’ve heard of the series, the best way I can describe it is to ask, what if Parks and Recreation was created by Stephen King? If that question stopped you in your tracks, then you’re going to want to read what I have to say.  This is a show that blends the small-town sensibilities of The Andy Griffith Show with David Lynch’s Twin Peaks. It’s quaint like the beach scenes from Jaws; it’s terrifying like the shark scenes from, well, Jaws. Bold statement, incoming: It’s the best new horror series on TV, and there’s nothing else on quite like it. Read …

Amandaland season 2 review – Lucy Punch’s social-climbing mum is as insufferable and hilarious as ever

Amandaland season 2 review – Lucy Punch’s social-climbing mum is as insufferable and hilarious as ever

Get the latest entertainment news, reviews and star-studded interviews with our Independent Culture email Get the latest entertainment news with our free Culture newsletter Get the latest entertainment news with our free Culture newsletter The real housewife of SoHa is back. After proving that she could stand on her own two Kurt Geiger-clad feet as the centre of a Motherland spin-off, Lucy Punch’s immaculately coiffed, endearingly self-centered mum-slash-influencer Amanda has returned for a well-deserved second season. Still reeling at the perceived step down of shifting from Chiswick to South Harlesden, our heroine has money on her mind. And so, with typical delusions of grandeur, the opening scenes see Amanda stride into a high street bank and regale a baffled adviser with a pitch better suited to an episode of Dragon’s Den. She’s seeking investment in Senuous, her perma-floundering social media brand pitched at “the aspirational end of the lifestyle content space”. Ideally, she wants the bank (or her Hong Kong-based investor, as she will later spin it to her long-suffering best pal Anne, played by …

A Hilarious ‘SNL’ Sketch About Heartbreak Goggles

A Hilarious ‘SNL’ Sketch About Heartbreak Goggles

With time, a breakup can become an edifying event in one’s life. The immediate aftermath of a split tends to be less clear, a hazy maelstrom that can involve medicinal tubs of ice cream, insomnia by way of intrusive thoughts, and an aversion to wearing anything other than sweats. But a fresh breakup can also be a warped lens through which everyday occurrences can be newly interpreted: It’s capable of transforming, say, an innocuous song playing over the speakers at CVS into a private soundtrack that speaks directly to one’s loss. It can cause rote interactions to feel like personal taunts, or lead one to read deeply into something that isn’t quite true. The peculiarities of these heartbreak goggles fueled a zany Saturday Night Live sketch, a standout from last night’s solid episode that saw Olivia Rodrigo doing double duty as host and musical guest. In “My Ex,” Rodrigo played a woman named Brianna who tried to make her ex jealous at a party by appearing to flirt with someone else; he did the same, …

Michael and Cooper are both now actors, following in the footsteps of their respective fathers, The Sopranos legend James and The Hunger Games star Philip Seymour Hoffman. The pair’s Hollywood pedigree has, understandably, led to them being hit with the nepobaby label, but Michael has now revealed their unique way of responding. During an appearance on The Downside podcast, he explained to host Gianmarco Soresi: “Me and Cooper Hoffman have this bit where we’re like, ‘we’ve gotta get rid of those nepobabies’. And then when someone says ‘…aren’t you guys that?’, it’s like ‘if one of your parents is dead, it’s fine. That’s the rule’.” James Gandolfini, who won three …

The Saturday Night Live star, 43, spoke about the elaborate investment during an upcoming May 4 episode of Sean Hayes, Will Arnett and Jason Bateman’s podcast, Smartless. Alongside their co-investor, Paul Italia, Jost and Davidson bought the decommissioned Staten Island ferry boat, named the John F. Kennedy, for $280,000 in 2022, according to The New York Times. Jost said his dad was the first person he texted after making the purchase. “He literally was like, ‘Did you do your homework?’ Which is such a teacher thing to say,” the comedian shared on the Smartless, according to People. “I …

Avenue Q review | A crude and hilarious must-see musical

Avenue Q review | A crude and hilarious must-see musical

A star rating of 4 out of 5. From the 2026 revival of The Muppets Show on Disney Plus to Elmo’s follower count climbing north of 700K on X, the last few years have seen something of a puppet renaissance. Therefore, it makes sense that now is the time for the West End revival of Avenue Q, Robert Lopez and Jeff Marx’s musical comedy following the ups and downs of randy, foul-mouthed puppets. The key point of the show is that although these characters are made from felt, they’re just like us; Princeton struggles to find his purpose, Kate Monster bemoans her lack of a boyfriend, Rod is coming to terms with his sexuality, Trekkie Monster is a porn enthusiast and avid OnlyFans user. If you’re thinking that the last example doesn’t sound terribly appropriate for a puppet show, you’d be correct. Avenue Q, with its foul language, suicide jokes and graphic puppet sex scenes (yes, really) flies in the face of stereotypes, with the biggest laughs coming from the weird juxtaposition between cute puppets …

Beef season 2 review: Charles Melton is hilarious in another bloody, sizzling serving

Beef season 2 review: Charles Melton is hilarious in another bloody, sizzling serving

A star rating of 4 out of 5. Netflix’s Beef is the latest celebrated ‘miniseries’ to ditch that label in pursuit of further accolades, but Lee Sung Jin’s revenge-themed comedy-drama isn’t resting on its laurels in season 2. Rather, the screenwriter is bravely taking his first self-created series down the anthology path, shedding his original leads Steven Yeun and Ali Wong for an all-new story orbiting a country club for the super-rich. The recruitment of Alien: Romulus star Cailee Spaeny is ironic, given that Beef’s evolution matches that of the iconic sci-fi horror franchise, which famously went from lone survival story Alien to all-out war flick Aliens. Beef season 2 could, accordingly, have gone by ‘Beefs’ instead, doubling the number of participants in its bitter feud as two couples become fatefully entangled by a chance encounter. Oscar Isaac (Dune) and Carey Mulligan (The Ballad of Wallis Island) play middle-class couple Josh and Lindsay, who work senior positions at the aforementioned leisure club, which comes with an eye-watering $300,000 admission fee.
