Last year, it was confirmed that classic dating show Blind Date would be getting a reboot on Disney+, and now it has been reported that Love Island star Maura Higgins is in discussions to serve as the show’s host. Higgins would be taking on the role made famous by the late Cilla Black, who hosted the original Blind Date from 1985 to 2003 on ITV. Since first appearing on Love Island in 2019, Higgins has gone on to host the Irish version of Glow Up, and appear as a contestant on Dancing on Ice, Cooking with the Stars, I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here! and The Traitors US. The world’s two largest nuclear powers are apparently turning to old school, Cold War-style sports diplomacy to thaw out their deeply frozen bilateral relations, even as there’s as yet no solution to the grinding Russia-Ukraine war. Russian and American ice hockey players are scheduled to face off in Moscow on July 1. President Vladimir Putin first proposed holding hockey matches between Russian and American players in both countries during a direct phone call with President Trump. According to the American Chamber of Commerce in Russia (AmCham Russia), the event is part of a broader series of matches. Notably the initial match is timed just ahead of the milestone 250th anniversary of US independence on July 4th. “We hope this will help melt the ice that formed between us,” AmCham Russia President Robert Agee said Thursday. The city will host the U.S. Olympic marathon trials for both men and women on March 25, 2028, USA Track & Field announced Thursday. It was selected over Phoenix. Three men and three women will qualify for Team USA during the trials, which will be the first selection event for any U.S. sport ahead of the 2028 Olympics in Los Angeles, according to organizers. The full course of the 26.2-mile race, which NBC will broadcast, will be released in the coming months. Members of the local organizing committee said that the race will begin at Washington University’s Francis Olympic Field, the main venue used during the 1904 Olympics, and that it will include several loops of downtown before it finishes in Energizer Park, the home of the city’s MLS team. Bill Bailey has claimed he was approached to host The Celebrity Traitors but turned it down due to scheduling commitments. The former Strictly Come Dancing champion was speaking to Australian breakfast programme Today, and said he was in the running to host. He said: “Here’s a scoop for you, I was actually offered the role of hosting Traitors, Celebrity Traitors.
