This latest update restricts where candidates can relocate their practical driving tests. These changes are part of a broader, phased strategy introduced by the DVSA to curb misuse of the booking system. For years, the system has been plagued by unofficial third-party booking services and “placeholder” bookings—where slots are secured early and moved repeatedly—contributing to lengthy backlogs and frustrating delays for other candidates. A statement on Gov.uk reads: “From June 9, 2026, further restrictions will come into force, limiting learners to moving their test only to one of the three nearest driving test centres.
