The Dos and Don’ts Of Public Transport

The Dos and Don’ts Of Public Transport

We’ve all been there: you’re getting a bus or train home after a long day at work, and someone’s blaring their music out of their phone speaker, or taking an obnoxiously loud phone call that you can hear every word of. It’s annoying, and quite frankly, rude. Speaking exclusively to HuffPost UK on behalf of CasinoHawks, former Royal butler Grant Harrold, said: “There are many basic rules we’re meant to follow on [systems like] the Tube, including giving up our seat to someone more in need and moving right down the carriage.” However, there are some extra things you should avoid doing if you really want to be the perfect traveller when it comes to riding public transport. Don’t: play music out loud “Don’t play your music without headphones; the other passengers won’t necessarily care for your Taylor Swift or Spice Girls playlist,” Harrold warned. “You spent a lot of money on those fancy headphones – use them.” Do: think about your food selection “Avoid eating or drinking anything smelly or with a strong odour, …

Tube strike latest – Tube lines affected and will London Underground strikes be cancelled? | UK | News

Tube strikes are set to wreak havoc on London commuters this week as passengers face four days of disruption. RMT union have planned the strikes for Tuesday, April 21, and Thursday, April 23, with both lasting 24 hours. The strikes are set to affect the Piccadilly and Circle lines most, with no service expected on either line. As of Monday, 20 April, we’ve now entered the “danger zone” for the planned strikes, which are due to start at midday on Tuesday, 21 April. Reports from Friday suggested that there were still “no formal peace talks” arranged between TfL and the RMT, leaving little sign of a last‑minute breakthrough. Tube strikes are often cancelled at the very last moment — sometimes with less than 18 hours to go before picket lines are due to appear. Because negotiations frequently continue right up to the “eleventh hour”, it’s not unusual for a strike to be called off while people are literally setting their alarms for the next morning. The strikes planned in April are a part of the …

Tube strikes warning: ‘No service from Tuesday until Friday’ as Sadiq Khan calls for peace talks with RMT

Sir Sadiq Khan has urged the RMT union not to press ahead with a Tube strike that could cause three weeks of chaos for passengers. It came as The Standard learned that the impact of the strike could be much worse than initially expected for commuters and businesses. There could be “limited or no service” on the London Underground from Tuesday morning until Friday afternoon on each of the three weeks earmarked for the walkouts. On Wednesday, the London mayor urged union leaders to return to the negotiating table and resolve their differences with Transport for London “amicably”. The RMT, which Sir Sadiq described as a “good trade union”, has announced six 24-hour walkouts starting on March 24 and continuing in April and May. But because each of the strikes starts at midday and finishes at midday the following day, before resuming a day later, it is feared this will cause significant disruption over four consecutive days –Tuesday to Friday – in each of the weeks earmarked for action. Soon after the strikes were announced …
