Tempo Prepared Meal Subscription Review (2026): Surprisingly Tasty

If you have eating restrictions, you’ll likely see even more repetition. My colleague Kat Merck, who tested GLP-1-appropriate meals—and also stated a preference for no fish—found herself drowning in a sea of chicken on the six meals she tried. She found the portions appropriate to those on GLP-1 meds, and appreciated that the meals offered her the proteins she needs to maintain muscle mass even while chemically un-hungry. But still: chicken. After eating five of her six meals, she wrote, “I don’t think I had one I didn’t end up liking, but they were absolutely repetitive. Chicken chicken chicken chicken.” The sixth meal she ate, a mushroom cream chicken, was the only utter failure. The chicken tasted different from the chicken in other dishes either of us tried, she noted: thick, dry, slathered in viscous cream with no sign of the advertised mushrooms. It was a little sad, a reminder of TV dinners past. But if anything, that failed meal cast into relief just how surprisingly well-managed most of the proteins turned out to be. …

‘Fresher than anything in a shop’: the best recipe boxes and meal kits for time-poor foodies, tested | Food

Recipe box services are the best thing to happen to time-poor foodies since, well, sliced bread. The surprising case for less meal variety when losing weight

The surprising case for less meal variety when losing weight

Hunger may not be the most challenging aspect of losing weight. One of the biggest challenges could be making hundreds of food choices every day. One day you might eat a salad, then a wrap the next day, followed by a smoothie. Then a healthy-looking snack that was actually unhealthy. Conversely, in a culture that revolves around new foods on a regular basis, this study suggests that eating fewer different foods repetitively over time, and therefore having a more consistent caloric intake throughout the week, will help you lose weight. This study out of Health Psychology follows 112 overweight or obese adults in the first 12 weeks of a behavioral weight loss program. It found a clear-cut pattern: the more a person’s food logs showed an increase in repetitions, the more weight they lost. Dr. Charlotte Hagerman, PhD, lead author of this research and researcher with the Oregon Research Institute, says, “It takes constant effort and self-control to maintain a healthy diet in today’s food environment. Creating an eating routine will reduce this effort and …

A weekly home-cooked meal can slash the risk of dementia in older adults

A weekly home-cooked meal can slash the risk of dementia in older adults

Get the Well Enough newsletter with Harry Bullmore for tips on living a healthier, happier and longer life Get the Well Enough email with Harry Bullmore Get the Well Enough email with Harry Bullmore Making a home-cooked meal at least once a week could help slash older people’s risk of dementia by up to 30 percent, Japanese researchers said Tuesday, and up to 70 percent for new cooks. A six-year study of nearly 11,000 men and women aged 65 and older showed that people who cooked more often saw a lowered risk of the devastating neurodegenerative diseases. Around half cooked up to five times a week. “The risk of dementia became lower as people cooked more frequently, and the benefits of cooking were particularly significant for those with low cooking skills, i.e., little cooking experience,” the researchers said in a statement. Although the findings are observational, they jive with current research on practices that can help slow the progression of Alzheimer’s disease and other forms of dementia. Cooking is both a good source of physical …

Jo Wood, 71, reveals why she skips this 1 meal amid decades-long Crohn’s battle

Ronnie Wood’s ex-wife, Jo Wood, shared an insight into her lavish diet and exercise routine and revealed the one meal she skips to maintain a healthy lifestyle following her Crohn’s Disease diagnosis.  The 71-year-old TV personality, who rose to fame after she married the Rolling Stones guitarist, opened up about her eating habits in her later life and explained why she likes to eat strictly “clean and fresh” foods.  Spending north of “£80 to £100” on organic produce, she said she always had her fridge stocked with vegetables and fresh fruit to help her stay on track and avoid snacking on unhealthy items.  Among the details of her daily meal plans, the mum-of-four shared that she usually skips breakfast and holds off on eating until midday, when she enjoys a “simple but delicious” lunch of “banana mashed on good organic bread with a drizzle of olive oil and a sprinkle of cinnamon”. She revealed she alternates this meal between her banana creation and a portion of “kefir with honey and banana”. Jo told Bella how …

I Did the Math: This Meal Kit Service Gives You the Most Bang for Your Buck

Meal kits are a convenience product, full stop. While the price gap between meal kits and grocery store prices has shrunk since they first launched, what you’re paying for is premeasured ingredients curated into a single box and delivered to your door ready to be spun into dinner. CNET We’ve calculated how meal kit delivery services stack up against grocery prices, and the findings aren’t surprising, even amid rising food costs nationwide. It’s almost always cheaper to buy groceries at the store, and you prepare meals, especially when you shop in person rather than have them delivered. Read more: I Test Meal Kits for a Living: 7 Mistakes That Cost You Meal kit prices are easy to compare. What’s harder to answer is whether any of them actually deliver value relative to what the same groceries would cost at a supermarket — and whether some services are giving you meaningfully more than others for your money. So I did the math. Considering seven of the most popular traditional-format meal kit delivery services, many of which appear on our Best Meal …

Gay Muslim influencer hosts inclusive Ramadan meal and calls for acceptance across faiths

BERLIN (AP) — Ali Darwich, a gay Muslim influencer in Berlin, picks up a date from his plate, takes a sip of water, and addresses the 15 friends sitting around the table and breaking the Ramadan fast with him. The 33-year-old German with Palestinian and Lebanese roots — who goes by @alifragt or “Ali asks” on Instagram — has a quickly growing following on Instagram, where he draws attention to the difficulties of living as a young, queer Muslim and calls for more tolerance and inclusiveness. “Tonight we want to send a message that no matter where a person comes from, no matter who that person loves, no matter how queer that person is, they cannot be too queer … because they are exactly as they should be,” Darwich says, smiling at the diverse group of Muslims and Christians, Germans and immigrants, gay and straight people sharing this meal with him as the sun sets over Berlin. “I am a believer, I believe in God, and I find Islam beautiful, just like Christianity or Judaism and many …
