Jake Reiner Describes the ‘Living Nightmare’ of Losing His Parents, Rob and Michele Reiner

LOS ANGELES (AP) — Jake Reiner, the older son of Rob and Michele Reiner, says learning his parents were killed and living in the aftermath has been “too devastating to comprehend.” In a post on Substack on Friday, Jake Reiner shares his sweetest memories of the beloved Hollywood director and the photographer and philanthropist who was his wife for 36 years. And he describes the horror of losing them when they were stabbed to death on Dec. 14 in the Los Angeles home he grew up in. It is his first detailed public account of his experience. He had previously only issued brief joint statements with his sister. “Nothing can prepare you for what it feels like to lose both parents instantly at the same time,” Jake Reiner writes. “It’s too devastating to comprehend. I still wake up every morning having to convince myself that, no, it’s not a dream. This truly is my living nightmare.” The long post makes only two fleeting mentions of his younger brother Nick Reiner, who has been charged with …

“Those visions of the astronauts,” she says, referring to Artemis II and the photos of our planet they shared, “were absolutely incredible, but you could see [against] the pictures of Earth in ’72 from Apollo [17], the Earth is now, grayer,” she says. “I mean, wake up. It’s crazy. It’s in front of everybody’s eyes, and then there’s [some] trying to kill populations for oil. It’s very disturbing,” she says. “A life achievement award… you always think that your voice, or what you do, you express it and it’s going in the right direction, but right now it’s a failure.” Yet Lamy is still hopeful. “But I can never give up,” she says. “There are people who have been fighting all the time, and we are expressing ourselves.” Only at the tail end of our conversation does fashion come up as a topic. I ask her what she makes of the way the industry has changed. She first mentions Owens’s shows and Rei Kawakubo’s for Comme des Garçons as good examples of self-expression in fashion. …

From Fergie to Michèle Lamy, here’s how guests showed up for the Fashion Trust U.S. Awards

Julia Fox, Michèle Lamy and Erykah Badu. Awards season isn’t over yet. On Tuesday evening, the Fashion Trust U.S. hosted its fourth annual awards ceremony celebrating emerging designers. The dress code, elusively: “Fashion.” In West Hollywood, a mix of faces — actors, musicians, influencers and athletes, both seasoned and young — lined the red carpet (that was actually pink) in their own interpretations of the theme. In L.A., style is unique because it is miscellaneous. There is no better city to embody a dynamic prompt like “fashion.” Kali Uchis in Vlora Mustafa. The carpet saw big names like Kali Uchis in Vlora Mustafa, Lake Bell in Rick Owens, Chrissy Teigen in Balenciaga, Bethenny Frankel in Valentino and Emma Chamberlain in Mugler, alongside fresh designs by the nights’ 16 finalists. Kelechukwu Mpamaugo, a finalist in the graduate category, wore her high school prom dress. “It’s the first design I ever made, before I even went into fashion,” she said. “I’ve only worn it once, so why not?” The fishtail halter dress, made from an African wax …

Nick Reiner Enters Plea In Deaths Of Parents Rob And Michele

Nick Reiner Enters Plea In Deaths Of Parents Rob And Michele

Nick Reiner pleaded not guilty to the killings of his parents, Hollywood director Rob Reiner and producer Michele Singer Reiner, in a Los Angeles court Monday. The 32-year-old’s plea to charges of two counts of first-degree murder, with the special circumstance of multiple murders, was entered by his public defender, Kimberly Greene. The charges carry a maximum sentence of life without possibility of parole or the death penalty. Nick Reiner is seen at a movie premiere in September of last year. A not-guilty plea is common for criminal defendants at this stage of the case, as The Associated Press reported. He had been set to enter a plea last month in the December stabbings but his defense attorney withdrew from the case during his last court hearing. Nick Reiner, who has since been represented by a public defender, waived his right to a speedy arraignment. He is being held without bail. Nick Reiner is the third of Rob Reiner’s four children. He’s seen here, right, with his parents and siblings Jake and Romy in 2014. …

Nick Reiner lawyer steps down just before arraignment in Rob and Michele Reiner murder case

The criminal defense lawyer representing Nick Reiner — who stands accused of fatally stabbing his parents, Rob Reiner and Michele Singer Reiner — told a judge Wednesday he is removing himself from the case. “I have no choice but to step down of counsel of record,” Alan Jackson said in court ahead of Nick Reiner’s arraignment. Kimberly Greene, a Los Angeles County public defender, then stepped in and asked the judge to postpone the arraignment. The judge rescheduled the hearing for Feb. 23. In remarks to reporters outside the courthouse, Jackson said his team wished Nick Reiner “the very, very best moving forward” and insisted that his former client was “not guilty.” Nick Reiner’s attorney Alan Jackson arrives at court Wednesday in Los Angeles.Apu Gomes / Getty Images Jackson, a former Los Angeles County prosecutor, previously represented former Hollywood mogul Harvey Weinstein and Oscar-winning actor Kevin Spacey. Rob and Michele Reiner’s Bond With Ex-Death Row Inmate Comes to Light

Rob and Michele Reiner’s Bond With Ex-Death Row Inmate Comes to Light

Before their tragic deaths in December, Rob and Michele Reiner were working diligently to see that a one-time death row inmate convicted on now-refuted evidence would be exonerated and freed after developing a bond with the man so strong that the couple planned to invite him to live in their home if he were to be freed.  Nanon Williams has been in prison in Texas for 34 years after being convicted as a juvenile offender of the 1992 murder of a Texas teenager, which he says he didn’t commit. The bond that he developed with the Reiners, who were both liberal activists on multiple social fronts, grew to the point that the famous couple considered him to be a part of their family.  “[They were] an integral part of my life,” Williams said in an interview with NBC News from W.F. Ramsey Unit, a maximum-security prison about 40 miles south of Houston, about the slain couple. “They became a part of me.” On Dec. 14, Rob and Michele were found dead inside their Brentwood home, …

A court order sought by the Los Angeles Police Department has blocked the release of any medical records connected to the deaths of Hollywood filmmaker Rob Reiner and his wife, Michele Reiner. The Los Angeles County Medical Examiner’s Office said it received the court order at 10:30 a.m. on Christmas Eve “to place a security hold” on any medical reports as the LAPD continues its homicide investigation. “While the cause and manner of death were previously released on these cases, due to the court order, the information is no longer available. No other case information or records, including the Medical Examiner report, can be released or posted on the website until further notice,” the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner’s Office shared in a statement. “The Department understands the public’s interest in these cases and remains committed to transparency when possible,” the statement continued. “Information will be made available once the court order is lifted.” The Medical Examiner previously shared that Rob and Michele died from “multiple sharp force injuries,” and that the manner of the couple’s death …
