Robert De Niro on Building the Tribeca Festival With Jane Rosenthal, Wrangling a Cut of ‘Gangs of New York’ From Harvey Weinstein, and Making ‘at Least Another One’ With Martin Scorsese

Robert De Niro on Building the Tribeca Festival With Jane Rosenthal, Wrangling a Cut of ‘Gangs of New York’ From Harvey Weinstein, and Making ‘at Least Another One’ With Martin Scorsese

As partnerships go, Robert De Niro has been pretty lucky. For starters, there’s his legendary 50-year run with Martin Scorsese, a collaboration that began in the ‘70s with classics like Mean Streets and Taxi Driver and has continued on all the way to 2023’s Killers of the Flower Moon. Then there are co-stars like Joe Pesci and Harvey Keitel—both Scorsese company men who’ve shared the screen with him several times—and of course, Al Pacino, arguably De Niro’s only true peer, who burned through the screen with De Niro in Michael Mann’s Heat and Scorsese’s The Irishman. But sometimes lost in all that testosterone is one of De Niro’s longest-running collaborations—his 37-year partnership with the powerhouse producer Jane Rosenthal, who he founded Tribeca Productions with in 1989. With Rosenthal, De Niro entered a fruitful, often financially lucrative next chapter in his career in the ‘90s, starring in films like Wag the Dog, Analyze This, and the Meet the Parents movies. (Focker-in-Law, the hotly-anticipated fourth installment of the Meet the Parents franchise, co-starring Ben Stiller and Ariana …

‘Sleepers’ Director Barry Levinson Is Still Perplexed by Controversy

‘Sleepers’ Director Barry Levinson Is Still Perplexed by Controversy

[This story contains spoilers for the 30-year-old Sleepers.] Nearly 30 years later, Sleepers director Barry Levinson still believes that the discourse surrounding his star-studded drama lost the plot.  Based on Lorenzo Carcaterra’s book of the same name, Sleepers begins in the late 1960s, chronicling four teenage friends whose mischievous quest for a free hot dog goes terribly awry when they nearly kill an innocent bystander. Consequently, they’re sent to the Wilkinson Home for Boys where they endure 6 to 18 months of sexual and physical abuse by four guards.  The New York-based film then jumps to 1981. Two of the four friends — John Riley (Ron Eldard) and Tommy Marcano (Billy Crudup) — spot their former lead abuser, Sean Nokes (Kevin Bacon), in a restaurant and gun him down on the spot. Their remaining friends — Lorenzo “Shakes” Carcaterra (Jason Patric), now a low-level clerk at The New York Times, and Assistant District Attorney Michael Sullivan (Brad Pitt) — vow to exonerate the imprisoned pair and expose the corrupt institution that ruined their lives. Ben Stiller Reveals He Didn’t Love All the ‘Meet the Parents’ Sequels

Ben Stiller Reveals He Didn’t Love All the ‘Meet the Parents’ Sequels

As fans anticipate the new addition of Ariana Grande to the Meet the Parents franchise, original star Ben Stiller has revealed that he didn’t love all the previous sequels. After 2000’s Meet the Parents became a box office hit, Stiller and Robert De Niro went on to reprise their roles as Greg Focker and Jack Byrnes, respectively, in three more installments: 2004’s Meet the Fockers, 2010’s Little Fockers and the upcoming Focker-In-Law. The new film, hitting theaters on Nov. 25, centers on Greg and Pam Focker’s (Teri Polo) son Henry (Skyler Gisondo), who causes family chaos when he decides to marry Olivia Jones (Grande), a strong-willed woman who appears to be his complete mismatch. The Arianators are clearly excited, with one asking on X, “Yall I did not watch the first 3 movies (and I don’t want to watch it either) but I want to watch the 4th one. Will I lose major plot?” And none other than Greg Foster himself, aka Stiller, replied: “No! But I stand by the first two.” Though the Zoolander …

Focker-In-Law Trailer: Ariana Grande Takes Centre Stage In Meet The Parents Sequel Teaser

Focker-In-Law Trailer: Ariana Grande Takes Centre Stage In Meet The Parents Sequel Teaser

Robert De Niro and Ariana Grande in Focker-In-Law Ariana Grande, Ben Stiller and Robert DeNiro aren’t a trio you’d naturally expect to see in one place, however all three have come together for the new film in the Meet The Parents series, Focker-In-Law. In the newly-released trailer for the upcoming family comedy, Ariana takes centre stage as the new girlfriend of Ben’s character’s son Henry (played by Skyler Gisondo) – who the family patriarch has a spot of trouble warming up to. The teaser also sees Ariana’s character taking on the infamous lie detector test from the first movie – and attempting to navigate her future in-law’s clingy parenting, as he struggles to let go of his now-adult son. Of course, being the Fockers franchise, there’s a healthy amount of the silly comedy (an early doors “wee-wee” joke) and gross-out humour (Jack “baby birding” a piece of food Greg ejected after choking on it) that we’ve come to expect from the first three films. Focker-In-Law will welcome back most of the franchise’s major players, including …

Sharon Stone names her surprising pick for best kisser in Hollywood – and it’s not who you think

Sharon Stone has never been one to hold back, and her latest candid revelation has left fans both surprised and delighted. During an appearance on SiriusXM’s Andy Cohen Live alongside host Andy Cohen and co-host John Hill, the Hollywood icon made a confession that instantly set the internet alight, naming her pick for the best kisser in the business. And, in true Sharon fashion, it was not the name many might expect. Given her electric on-screen chemistry with Michael Douglas in Basic Instinct, many fans might have assumed he would top the list. But the 68-year-old had a different answer entirely. © Getty ImagesRobert De Niro and Sharon Stone in a scene from the film ‘Casino’ “Oh my god. He’s the best kisser in the business,” she said, before revealing it was Robert De Niro who had quite literally swept her off her feet. “Kissed me right out of my shoes,” she added, laughing as she recalled the moment. © Getty ImagesSharon and Michael Douglas in Basic Instinct The revelation came as Sharon looked back on …

The ‘Heat 2’ Cast Is Shaping Up. Here’s Everything We Know

The ‘Heat 2’ Cast Is Shaping Up. Here’s Everything We Know

The story also jumps forward in time to Ciudad del Este in Paraguay, where Shiherlis becomes enmeshed in a complex global black market supply-chain drama between two Taiwanese expat families competing for dominance of the illicit import/export trade. It sounds complicated, but not much more complicated than it would be if I tried to describe Michael Corleone’s foray down to Cuba with Hyman Roth in Godfather II with a one-sentence synopsis. The timelines eventually braid, and the story reaches a thrilling conclusion set in Los Angeles in the year 2000. The novel was a canny move by Mann, who can be seen as in the midst of a decade plus long box office cold streak. Blackhat reportedly made $20 million on a $70 million budget while Ferrari made $43.6 million on a budget of $95 million. There is a case to be made that this does not matter because Ferrari is pretty good and Blackhat rules—but that aside, if you’re trying to talk a studio into giving you $150 million for a set-piece-packed thriller with …

Robert De Niro Gets Emotional Urging Americans To Resist Trump

Robert De Niro Gets Emotional Urging Americans To Resist Trump

Robert De Niro has made no secret about what he thinks of Donald Trump, but he got very emotional about the state of the US under the presidentduring an interview with MS NOW’s Nicolle Wallace on Monday. “The story is our country, and Trump is destroying it, and who knows what his reasons are, but it’s sick, it’s fucked up,” De Niro said. “We have to save this country.” Toward the end of the interview, De Niro seemed on the verge of tears when Wallace asked him why he makes a point of thanking the people who work for him at awards shows. “You have to — you have to lift people up,” the actor said, with his voice starting to crack, before explaining, “You have to bring them together. You can’t divide people, you can’t win that way.” Things got emotional as De Niro pivoted back to discussing Trump’s divisive presidency. “It’s a no-win situation, and look what we have, look who we have there, it’s almost like a destiny to have this thing …
