The small group of Americans flew in as the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum, or SPIEF, often dubbed Russian Davos, opened on June 3 in the port city. The annual conference serves as a promotional vehicle for the country as Putin seeks to project strength and global power. Officials say this year they are receiving 20,000 guests from over 100 countries, with 76 countries sending high-level representatives. Putin has increasingly faced setbacks on the battlefield as a Ukrainian drone strike campaign disrupts critical logistics routes and public support at home wanes. The forum opened to plumes of black smoke rising above St. Petersburg after a Ukrainian aerial attack damaged a naval base and an oil terminal, part of increased strikes targeting Russian oil infrastructure. Bottom G Wants You to Know He’s More Than Just ‘Gay Andrew Tate’

Bottom G Wants You to Know He’s More Than Just ‘Gay Andrew Tate’

Last month, the cryptocurrency-based online casino Duel aired a blackjack livestream that it said would be hosted by former pro kickboxer turned controversial masculinity influencer Andrew Tate. But while the dealer—a bald man with dark stubble, wearing a black T-shirt, tight suit, and sunglasses—bore a resemblance to Tate, he didn’t act much like the swaggeringly macho and voluble streamer. His mostly silent performance was punctuated by sudden bouts of singing, vigorous twerking, and still more ridiculous dance moves, the most impressive being a full split on the blackjack table. He also spontaneously made out with a male assistant posted to his side, pulling him in for the kiss by his necktie. The performance went viral, but sometime after the livestream began, Duel’s founder and owner, Ossi Ketola, claimed that the casino had been duped by an influencer management agency. “We were promised a deal where Andrew Tate would deal blackjack for one of our live games,” Ketola wrote in Duel’s Discord server. “When he arrived at the studio, we realized we had been rugged. The …

Food Network personality Guy Fieri has sparked backlash among some fans after being spotted at a weekend UFC fight greeting Andrew Tate, the controversial influencer who has built a following on overt misogyny, including comments suggesting women should “bear responsibility” for sexual assault. On Saturday, Fieri attended UFC 327 in Miami, where Carlos Ulberg defeated Jiří Procházka by first-round knockout to become the new UFC light heavyweight champion. In a video clip shared by BroBible sports editor Jorge Alonso, Fieri can be seen warmly shaking hands with Tate and bumping shoulders as they greet each other. “I will never watch Food Network again,” one commenter wrote on Threads. “I didn’t know Guy Fieri was hanging around people like this. It says a lot about him.” Another Instagram commenter wrote, “I’m really looking forward to the explanation for this one — the ‘Mayor of Flavortown’ having a blast with the ‘Mayor of Misogyny Town.’” Often associated with the online “manosphere,” Tate and his brother, Tristan Tate, have been under criminal investigation in Romania since 2022. The 20-year-old social media star, who maintains an online presence among manosphere circles as a so-called “looksmaxxer,” was filmed earlier this year with far-right commentator Nick Fuentes and Tate, in which the three men chanted along to the Kanye West track “Heil Hitler.” In an interview with 60 Minutes Australia’s Adam Hegarty, Clavicular — born Braden Eric Peters — was questioned about his looksmaxxing theory, self-improvement and his views on women, but Peters grew agitated when he was quizzed on his relationship to Tate. Hegarty asked Peters: “You’ve shared company with Andrew Tate and other controversial figures, why do you spend …

UK to Charge Admission to National Museums for International Visitors

UK to Charge Admission to National Museums for International Visitors

The United Kingdom’s Department for Culture, Media and Sport (DCMS) has accepted several recommendations from a report last year aimed at increasing access to the arts in the country. One of these would require international visitors to pay an entry fee to visit the UK’s national museums, according to a report in the Financial Times. The initial report, reviewing the Arts Council England, was published last December and led by Baroness Margaret Hodge, a former member of Parliament. It was then sent for review by the UK government, which has accepted several of the recommendations in the report. Related Articles Per the FT article, the implementation of charging international visitors to enter national museums is “conditional on the government first rolling out a universal ID scheme, which would make it easier to differentiate domestic and international visitors.” The entry fees for international visitors, as well as “incentivising philanthropy [and] cultural tax reliefs,” are meant to fund the other recommendations, which include a new fund aimed at supporting aspiring artists, access to arts education to every …

Police reopen investigation into Andrew Tate sex abuse allegations | UK News

Police have reopened an investigation into allegations of sexual abuse against Andrew Tate. Hertfordshire Constabulary confirmed it will reinvestigate alleged rape and sexual assault offences reported to the force between 2014 and 2015. It comes a day after the Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC) said it was investigating how the force dealt with the allegations after the case was closed in 2019, following a four-year probe. It said it was investigating a former detective constable, who could face gross misconduct proceedings for “alleged failures to properly investigate”, and two former detective sergeants who supervised the investigation. Then on Thursday the force confirmed the allegations were being re-examined. Image: Andrew Tate in Bucharest in 2024 Pic: AP Photo/Vadim Ghirda A spokesman said: “We are committed to doing what is right and ensuring that allegations of such a serious nature are properly, thoroughly and fully investigated, no matter how long ago they occurred.” The reports were made by three women who allege the professional kickboxer used sexual violence against them. Tate Liverpool Director Appointed to Lead Royal Academy of Arts

Helen Legg, the current director of the Tate Liverpool, has been appointed as artistic director of the Royal Academy of Arts in London, the institution announced Wednesday. Legg will start in the role in June and will be responsible for the institution’s exhibitions, collection, and public programs. Legg’s tenure at the Tate Liverpool began in 2018. Under her leadership, the museum has undergone a $46 million renovation, closing in 2023 to the “reimagining” of the building. It was originally set to reopen last year, but funding delays pushed the relaunch to 2027, when it will open with a exhibition of works by British-Indian artist Chila Kumari Singh Burman. The new Tate Liverpool will feature an art hall built for large scale installations, the museum said recently. Related Articles Prior to the Tate, Legg served as director of Spike Island in Bristol, England, overseeing exhibitions for Charlotte Prodger, Haroon Mirza, Cevdek Erek, Aurélien Froment, and, most notably, Lubaina Himid, who went on to receive a Turner Prize nomination for her outing at the institution. As ARTnews‘s Alex Greenberger …
