Therabody Launches CryoTherm Palm for Faster Recovery During Your Workouts

Therabody Launches CryoTherm Palm for Faster Recovery During Your Workouts

Therabody, the manufacturer behind some of the top massage guns and beauty and recovery gadgets, on Saturday announced its latest device: the CryoTherm Palm. It’s a three-in-one handheld recovery tool that resembles a dumbbell, offering dual-sided heating and cooling and a stopwatch for timed sessions.  According to Therabody, the CryoTherm Palm uses scientifically calibrated cryothermal technology that makes the device cold or hot within seconds. The company wanted a device with a similar function to its hot-and-cold wearable RecoveryTherm Cube, but more compact.  Therabody chose palm-cooling because the palms and feet have glabrous skin (smooth skin without hair follicles) with blood vessels, called arteriovenous anastomoses, that are known to rapidly exchange heat. Researchers from Stanford University performed an experiment in 2023 where they had athletes wear cooling gloves after high-intensity exercise. They found that palm cooling helped slow the rise in core body temperature, which can help with recovery, prevent potential injuries and improve athletic performance.  This palm-cooling tool was specifically developed for athletes who need instant recovery during training. Therabody teamed up with the …

The Pilates Class Founder Jacqui Kingswell Reveals the Biggest Misconceptions About the Celeb-Loved Workout

Pilates body! The Pilates Class founder Jacqui Kingswell has taught her signature method to A-listers including Nina Dobrev, Sydney Sweeney, Emma Roberts, Miranda Kerr, Kaia Gerber, and Olivia Culpo, and she’s telling ET there’s a lot more to the workout than toned abs and matching sets. “People think that Pilates is easy, or that it’s just stretching, but when you’re doing it properly, it’s incredibly challenging. It requires strength, control, and a lot of focus,” she reveals, ahead of returning to Los Angeles, California this June for her second TPC world tour. Jacqui Kingswell/Instagram But unlike workouts that rely on pushing yourself to exhaustion, Kingswell’s method is centered around slowing down and becoming more connected to your body, something she says starts with intentional movement. “There’s a real emphasis on form and connection,” she explains. “We concentrate on how something feels, not just how it looks.” While Pilates may appear graceful from the outside, Kingswell says the burn, and the results, come from precision and control. Jacqui Kingswell/Instagram “Movement can and should be enjoyable. It …

A certified instructor says this is the biggest mistake people make when following Pilates workouts online—and shares her golden rule to remedy it

It can be easy to be overwhelmed when trying Pilates. It’s a demanding style of movement that requires control, strength and stability, and is as mentally challenging as it is physically stimulating. But, according to certified instructor Evia Valeniece, one simple thing can make or break your practice, especially if you’re new to Pilates: breathing. Latest Videos From You may like “When I first started, I didn’t know anything,” the BetterMe instructor tells Fit&Well, describing how she was initially self-taught. “I just found videos on YouTube that were put together with music and a timer, but no verbal guidance.” Once she earned her certifications and started teaching regularly, she quickly realised the importance of verbal cues to guide people on how to breathe during an exercise. “Not just how to breathe, but when to breathe, and most importantly, to breathe, because lots of people just hold their breath,” she says. Start your week with achievable workout ideas, health tips and wellbeing advice in your inbox. Generally, she says, the golden rule in Pilates is to …

11 Kettlebell Exercises to Level-up Your Workouts, Approved by Experts

11 Kettlebell Exercises to Level-up Your Workouts, Approved by Experts

6) Kettlebell thrusters Introducing compound lift number two, with a twist. Here we’re putting our body to the test by merging two great exercises into one. Front squat + push press = thruster. Standing tall, feet should be hip width apart with toes slightly externally rotated (toes pointing out slightly). Now place both kettlebells symmetrically in the rack position, thus replicating a kettlebell front squat. Inhale, then descend into a deep squat by flexing at the hips, knees and ankles simultaneously, keeping your heels firmly on the floor until your thighs become parallel to the ground. Pause… it’s time to generate some power. Push through your heels, exhale and explode into triple extension. As you begin to reach an upright position, it’s time to transition into an overhead press. Using the momentum you’ve created from your explosive assent, vertically press the kettlebells powerfully into the air. Stand tall and finish your press with your palms facing forward. Lower the kettlebells back to the rack position and repeat. Here we are not only working every large …

Gaming at the Gym? Here’s How to Sneak Some Playtime Into Workouts

Summer is right around the corner, and if you’re doing the last dash to get a summer bod, then you need to spend more time at the gym. For someone like me who has been focusing on lifting weights, this is the time of the year when the newbie gym goers throw in the towel, making for less crowded spaces when trying to perform a deadlift. There’s also more time to spend lifting weights as there will be hardly a line of people waiting for a certain machine or platform. Without being rushed, I’m maximizing my time at the gym to improve my health and getting in some gaming. Thanks to improvements in both handheld gaming and cloud streaming, you can play practically any game away from home on your phone or on slightly bigger devices. So what better way to take advantage of this tech than to use it to help pass the time at the one activity everyone needs more of: exercise. Read more: Getting Older Messed With My Gaming.
