Unexpected royal is ‘main character’ at Trooping the Colour | Royal | News

Fans of the Royal Family have been left captivated by today’s Trooping the Colour parade, which commemorates the Monarch’s birthday, thanks to one standout ‘main character’ member. Although King Charles was born in November, his official birthday is marked in June, following the precedent set by numerous monarchs throughout history. This stems from centuries-old tradition – and the British weather.

As thousands of Royal enthusiasts lined the Mall to mark the occasion, attention was firmly fixed on one particular Royal Family member – and it wasn’t King Charles, whom one might anticipate being the focal point at his own celebration. Instead, the Royal Family member capturing hearts is Princess Charlotte.

Travelling alongside her mother, Catherine, Princess of Wales, and her two brothers, Prince George and Prince Louis, Princess Charlotte radiated poise and composure as she waved and beamed at the crowds assembled to glimpse her and her family, even when other relatives didn’t. Princess Charlotte donned a simple white dress with short sleeves, while her brothers wore smart suits, guaranteeing they were impeccably dressed for the momentous occasion.

Others praised how “lovely” Princess Kate appeared, displaying her baby blue outfit, with her hair styled up neatly. Someone took to X to write: “Princess Charlotte is out there being the Main Character.”

Another responded: “I just know how the children are always well groomed, appropriately attired and presented in all situations, ceremonial, formal or informal.”

Another observer highlighted that “The Princess of Wales and Princess Charlotte are wearing matching three-strand pearl bracelets today! So cute.”

Others described Princess Charlotte as “sweet,” with several drawing comparisons to the late Queen Elizabeth II. “She’s beautiful and regal,” one admirer commented.

This isn’t the first occasion she’s been compared to her late great-grandmother, as on her 10th birthday, Princess Kate shared a photograph of her only daughter to mark the special day, prompting people to note the resemblance. Supporters rushed to comment on Charlotte’s picture, with one stating: “Princess Charlotte looks like the late Queen.”

A second contributor remarked: “Happy Birthday HRH Princess Charlotte! You are the image of your great-grandmother, HRH QUEEN ELIZABETH II, and do her proud.”

Another said: “Happy Birthday to Princess Charlotte. She looks so similar to Queen Elizabeth.”

Royal commentator Phil Dampier told the Daily Express: “She is growing up fast and reminds me of Princess Anne as she’s a strong character and able to tell her brothers what to do.”

Meanwhile, another penned: “She looks so similar to Queen Elizabeth.”

Discussing her similarity to the late sovereign, Phil added: “Winston Churchill once said of the late Queen Elizabeth when she was a child that he had never seen such maturity in someone so young, and Charlotte seems to have inherited that trait from her great-grandmother, to whom she bears an uncanny resemblance”.
