Last week, viewers finally discovered which resident was igniting fires on Emmerdale Farm.
For the last few months, Robert Sugden (Ryan Hawley) and Aaron Dingle (Danny Miller) have been tormented by a secret arsonist who seemingly wanted to ruin their chances of a successful agricultural business.
At first, it seemed like Moira Dingle (Natalie J Robb) could be the one igniting the blazes, possibly as a way to spend more time at Butler’s Farm after being evicted.
The finger was pointed at Kammy Hadiq (Shebz Miah). He’d been lurking around the fields, and was spotted trying to torch his car.
Robert and Aaron were adamant that they’d found the culprit, but it soon transpired that he was actually homeless and hoping that the insurance payout for the car would help with his financial crisis.
With Kammy being welcomed into the Dingle residence, it was back to square one for Robert and Aaron.
However, during Friday’s instalment, the real culprit was revealed. Cain Dingle’s (Jeff Hordley) teenage son Kyle Winchester (Huey Quinn) was seen pouring fuel over some hay bales, and in possession of a lighter!
But why is he doing it, and will he be caught?
New spoilers for next week show that Kyle’s troubling behaviour intensifies, and that Graham Foster (Andrew Scarborough) will be drawn into the storyline.
It all kicks off when Cain turns down spending time with Kyle, and he decides to bunk off school. He overhears his dad telling Kammy that he seems to have an obsession with wanting to repair the rusty old car he’d been gifted, and Kyle takes his as confirmation that he doesn’t enjoy their time together.
Meanwhile, Graham surveys the land at the farm, hoping to stumble across the arsonist. Smoke is spotted flooding across the fields, and he rushes over to the scene of the crime.
He’s stunned to see Kyle torching his car, and drags him to safety.
The two then strike up an unlikely friendship, as Kyle opens up about his various troubles. Graham quickly helps to cover when Robert says he’s noticed the flames and is on his way, and orders the teen to hide in the back of his car.
Later, Graham is understanding of Kyle’s motivations, and promises to help on the condition he confess everything to Cain and Moira. He also signs him up to the cadets, hoping it’ll give him a new direction.
What will Kyle do?
