Laura Whitmore announces ‘unexpected early’ birth of second child

Laura Whitmore, the Irish TV presenter and former host of Love Island, has announced the “unexpectedly early” arrival of her second child with husband Iain Stirling.

The 41-year-old star shared the joyous news on social media, posting a tender image of the newborn’s hand resting on her chest.

In her announcement, Whitmore revealed the baby’s arrival last month, writing: “A new player has entered the game! We welcomed the most precious baby last month, unexpectedly early and with dramatic flair (wouldn’t expect anything else). I had made a 5 hour birthing playlist this time…only played about 3 songs – ended up using it post birth. It’s a reaaally good playlist, can somebody please use it.”

She added that she had been “enjoying baby smells, lack of sleep and scrumptious hands and wrists.”

The couple, who married in 2020 and welcomed their first daughter in March 2021, had announced they were expecting again in February this year.

Scottish comedian Iain Stirling, known as the narrator of Love Island, also celebrated the new arrival with a social media post featuring a white knitted beanie, boots, and a jumper embroidered with “littlest living legend.”

He humorously captioned it: “Say hello to our newest living legend. I always wanted someone in the house who would stay up late and watch the World Cup with me. But this feels a little excessive.”

Celebrity friends were quick to offer their congratulations, with Sophie Ellis-Bextor commenting “ah congratulations,” and Outlander actress Caitriona Balfe writing, “Congratulations Laura.”

Former Love Island star Shaughna Phillips added, “Ugh, could just bottle it up!!! Congratulations to you all.”

Whitmore, who hosted Love Island from 2020 until 2022, and Stirling have consistently kept the name of their first child private, and are yet to disclose their newborn’s name.

Their relationship began in 2017. When announcing her second pregnancy, Whitmore shared a series of Instagram photos, joking: “Instagram V Reality. Spoiler: It wasn’t just a big meal mama ate. She’s been cooking away! I’d like to thank stretchy pants and travel sick bags.”

While there are are many excellent blogs devoted to the topics of faith, humanism, atheism, political viewpoints, and wider kinds of rationalism and philosophical doubt, those are not the only focus here.Im going to blog about what ever comes to my mind in a day.
