We’re now just over a month away from the premiere of MobLand season 2 and, in advance of the release, a brand-new trailer has been unveiled.
The promo sees Tom Hardy’s Harry Da Souza warning Pierce Brosnan and Dame Helen Mirren’s Conrad and Maeve Harrigan that the crime family is in a death spiral, and saying that “the war” for North London has already begun.
The trailer also introduces us to Johnny Flynn’s new character, who makes a particularly explosive entrance, while Conrad is said to have gone “completely bonkers berserk”, as he is seen holding a gun to his own son, Paddy Considine’s Kevin.
Throw in a chainsaw, some guns and plenty of splattered blood, and it looks like another thrilling season. You can watch the trailer right here now.
The synopsis for season 2 says that it sees the Harrigans struggling “to show a unified front as rising rivals threaten their fractured criminal empire – and Harry Da Souza, their street-smart and formidable ‘fixer’, must walk a dangerous tightrope when tensions within the family intensify”.
The synopsis continues: “As violence spills into every corner of their lives, loyalties snap, safety proves temporary, and the battle for power leaves no room for mercy.”
Alongside Hardy, Brosnan, Mirren, Considine and Flynn, season 2 will also star Joanne Froggatt, Lara Pulver, Anson Boon, Mandeep Dhillon, Jasmine Jobson, Teddie Allen, Emmett J Scanlan, Ophelia Lovibond, Janet McTeer and Toby Jones.
Despite the fact that season 2 hasn’t even debuted, and won’t finish airing until the finale drops on Friday 20 November, there has already been plenty of discussion about a potential third season, which has not yet been officially confirmed.
At one point, it was reported that Hardy would not be returning for season 3 due to behind-the-scenes issues, but more recent reports have suggested that he will be back, while Mirren has publicly supported him and backed his return.
