Little Mix star Perrie Edwards has described her wedding to professional footballer Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain as “the best day of my life”, revealing that she celebrated alongside her former bandmates Leigh-Anne Pinnock and Jade Thirlwall.
The 32-year-old singer and her long-term partner, who have been together since 2017 and engaged since June 2022, exchanged vows during an intimate ceremony in Faro, Portugal, on Saturday afternoon.
Speaking to British Vogue, Edwards shared that the day was “the best day of my life – up there with the births of my children”, adding that her wedding dress “couldn’t have been more perfect.”
The celebration almost faced a hiccup when a diamond necklace, a gift from Alex after their son Axel’s birth, went missing.
“I cried all day, we looked everywhere – we even checked the hoover – but it was gone. I was convinced someone had stolen it,” she recounted. The necklace was later found tangled in her hair by her stylist, prompting tears of relief.
“I sobbed. I was so happy and so relieved. It set the tone. I knew from that moment it was gonna be the best day ever.”
Reflecting on walking down the aisle, Edwards spoke of an emotional moment with her husband.
“Alex isn’t a crier – he doesn’t get emotional that often. But when he turned around at the altar and saw me for the first time, we both just cried our eyes out. I thought: I’ll never forget this moment right here. It was beautiful. I’ve never experienced a room so full of love.”
British Vogue shared images from the ceremony, showcasing her extravagant lace gown, which Edwards characterised as “classic and timeless.”
The wedding follows the arrival of the couple’s second child, daughter Alanis Valentine, born in January, joining their son Axel, who was born in August 2021.
“It’s been a whirlwind!” Edwards exclaimed. “I have a brand new baby, she’s just five months. It was so special to have her there in her little dress.”
The evening saw Edwards take to the dancefloor with Pinnock and Thirlwall, with their chart-topping hit Wings among the songs played.
She recalled dancing with Pinnock, saying: “We were absolutely going off to En Vogue. We still remembered all of our harmonies and the choreography!”
Edwards rose to prominence after winning The X Factor in 2011 as part of Little Mix, alongside Pinnock, Thirlwall, and Jesy Nelson.
The group achieved five UK number one singles and one UK number one album before Nelson’s departure in December 2020. The trio continued performing until their hiatus in 2022.
Edwards has since launched a solo career under the stage name Perrie, releasing new music including Forget About Us, Tears, and You Go Your Way, with her debut solo album released last year.
