Princess Anne switches it up in wraparound shades and skinny jeans

Princess Anne has perhaps the most versatile wardrobe among the British royal style set, case in point being her recent outing in Italy. While making an appearance at the curling and snowboarding events during the 2026 Milano Cortina Winter Olympics, King Charles‘ sister looked on from the crowd with not a skirt suit in sight.

Anne, 75, opted for an uber-relaxed look, pairing dark-wash skinny jeans with a cobalt Team GB puffer coat. Adding a retro touch, the Princess Royal also wore a pair of wraparound sunglasses with orange-tinted lenses.

As President of Team GB, the royal also presented medals for the Women’s Snowboard Big Air Final. As she took to the ice, Anne removed her sunglasses and popped on a cornflower blue beanie hat for extra warmth.

Though a beanie is a less conventional choice of headwear for a royal who is usually seen in a formal hat or tiara, it gets the seal of approval from HELLO! Fashion‘s uber-stylish Fashion Features Editor Tania Leslau. “When worn with intention, beanies have the power to make an outfit,” Tania said previously. “While primarily celebrated as a street style must, beanies have successfully penetrated the luxury sphere in recent months.

“2025 shows courtesy of Armani, Issey Miyake, Hermès, and Moschino saw models hit the runway in varied renditions, while autumn-winter served up knit supremacy à la Louis Vuitton, Holzwelier, Alberta Ferretti, and Rabanne. Not forgetting Burberry’s viral £3,000 duck beanie.”

Like the humble beanie, Anne’s Adidas sunnies are not your usual royal accessory. And yet, they are a staple in her collection. In May 2025, she wore them with a tweed jacket while giving a speech at commemorations in Sark to mark its Liberation anniversary.

Meanwhile, the sunglasses, which wouldn’t be out of place in a noughties street style look, completed her countryside chic last April. The princess was flexing her sunglasses game as she held her personalised shepherd’s crook and watched her daughter, Zara Tindall, compete in the Cirencester Park Horse Trials.

Before Anne found her trusty Adidas sunnies, she was loyal to a pair of aviators. She can be seen in the black-tinted sunglasses as far back as her visit to the Republic of Upper Volta in West Africa in February 1984, in her capacity as a patron of the Save The Children Fund.

She has also been known to share her sunglasses with her children. She wore a reflective pair to The Blue Cross Headquarters in Burford, Oxfordshire, in September 1999.

Then, in August 2000, a near-identical pair made an appearance on her son, Peter Phillips, when he attended the Gatcombe Park Horse Trials on his mother’s Gloucestershire estate with his friend, Elizabeth Iorio.
