Star-Studded World Cup Halftime Show Makes Room For One More A-List Headliner

Madonna, BTS and Shakira were already confirmed to be co-headlining at Fifa’s first ever World Cup halftime show later this month

Quite how the World Cup is going to squeeze performances from the likes of Madonna, BTS and Shakira into an 11-minute Halftime Show remains to be seen – particularly as the line-up just keeps getting bigger.

On Wednesday evening, it was announced that Justin Bieber will now be among the four co-headliners at the first ever Fifa World Cup Halftime Show, which is due to take place on Sunday 19 July at the New York New Jersey Stadium.

It’s also been revealed that Burna Boy will join Shakira to perform their latest official tournament anthem Dai Dai, with Gustavo Dudamel, PS 22 Chorus and Coldplay also set to put in an appearance.

“When it comes to what the world needs, there is nothing more important than education,” Fifa president Gianni Infantino wrote on Instagram. “We are proud to have Justin Bieber joining Madonna, Shakira and BTS to co-headline the Fifa World Cup 2026 Final Halftime Show in support of the Fifa Global Citizen Education Fund and our mission to expand access to quality education and football opportunities for children around the world.

“Burna Boy, Gustavo Dudamel and PS 22 Chorus ft. Coldplay will also join and play a key role in conveying a powerful message of unity and hope to billions of people worldwide.”

He added: “As the world unites for the most significant football match in history on Sunday 19 July 2026 at the New York New Jersey Stadium, this groundbreaking spectacle, curated by Chris Martin of Coldplay, will celebrate football, music and our shared values, ensuring a legacy that transcends the final whistle.”

Justin’s addition to the line-up comes after two headline-grabbing performances earlier this year, first at the Grammys, where he famously appeared on stage in just a pair of boxers, and later at the Coachella music festival, where he headlined on two consecutive weeks.

Co-headliner Madonna, meanwhile, is celebrating the release of her latest album Confessions II last week, which is currently on course to give the Queen of Pop her first number one in over a decade.
