Sarah Snook on Why ‘All Her Fault’ Was Perfect Post-‘Succession’ Role

Sarah Snook on Why ‘All Her Fault’ Was Perfect Post-‘Succession’ Role

Sarah Snook was admittedly a little tepid on the idea of doing a TV show in the middle of her award-winning theater blitz. It was 2024, and the actress, famed and acclaimed for her role as the ice-cold Shiv Roy in Jesse Armstrong’s HBO family drama Succession, was winding down on her production of The Picture of Dorian Gray on London’s West End, in which she played 26 separate roles, and for which she would later nab Tony and Laurence Olivier awards. The expectation was that the show would transfer to Broadway. So when she was approached by All Her Fault creator Megan Gallagher and executive producer Nigel Marchant, Snook remembers saying a lot of, “No, there’s no way I can do this show,” she recalls, noting balancing a TV return with Broadway was just too much of an ask. “And to do it away from home, it would mean that it’s too long away from my family,” adds Snook, who had at the time just welcomed a daughter with husband Dave Lawson. But then …

When a Police Interrogator Tells You It Isn’t Your Fault

When a Police Interrogator Tells You It Isn’t Your Fault

A confession is often seen as the gold standard of evidence in a criminal case, leading to guilty verdicts even when there is no other evidence, when there’s a reason to think the confession was involuntary, and even when other evidence like DNA contradicts the story in the confession. Throughout the last four or five decades, scientists have learned a lot about the psychology of interrogations and confessions. But has that information trickled down to the public? This multi-part series titled “What Psychologists Want You to Know About Interrogations” uses data from a 2021 survey of the general public and their knowledge about police interrogations and false confessions. This survey compared the public’s knowledge to that of experts in the field: psychologists who have published empirical papers in peer-reviewed journals on these topics. The results showed that these two groups agree on certain information about interrogations and confessions. But a lot of the time, the public has ideas about these topics that go against what experts know from their research. This series presents a few …

If The British Lose The Falkland Islands It Will Be Their Own Fault

If The British Lose The Falkland Islands It Will Be Their Own Fault

This month, after four years of tensions between Europe and Russia, the Russian Navy executed an operation in the North Atlantic on the doorstep of British waters.  Using an Akula-Class nuclear submarine as a decoy, the Russians sent covert spy subs to map underwater infrastructure, including vulnerable internet cables and pipelines.  Given the precarious nature of the war in Ukraine, the Russian action is being called “brazen” by European leaders.  Critics argue, though, that the Russians only carried out the operation because they feel they have little to fear from the Royal Navy.  This problem was further exposed when Iranian missiles and drones targeted multiple British bases in March after the initial start of the war.  Kier Starmer sent only one vessel (the HMS Dragon) for air defense, and this ship was then called back in April for maintenance.  The military response by the British was called “pathetic” by many who expected at least a rudimentary naval presence for security.  Europe’s “hands off” policy in the Strait of Hormuz aside, it is becoming clear that …

I’m out of a job after issues at the schools where I worked. Is it my fault? | Family

I’m out of a job after issues at the schools where I worked. Is it my fault? | Family

I’ve been a teacher for more than 20 years and loved it. I had promotions every couple of years and was happily making my way up the ladder. This year, however, I was made redundant because of restructuring and this has thrown me into a feeling of complete confusion. I have tried to find roles at the level I was working at, but have not been successful. It has left me feeling lost and unclear. The last five years within education have felt fraught. I left the previous school I’d worked at because I felt the headteacher was unable to support me following the death of my mum. The school before that I left after whistleblowing on a senior leader for bullying. I am worried the repeat issues and feelings of being unhappy all come from me, and somehow I am seeking out conflict or issues. I have a happy life with my partner and three children, as well as fantastic friends and siblings. But work is important to me and being out of it …

Singtel CEO apologises for outages, says 9-hour disruption on Mar 16 due to mechanical fault

SINGAPORE: Singtel Singapore CEO Ng Tian Chong on Thursday (Mar 19) apologised for the company’s recent outages, and said that the disruption that occurred on the first day – lasting more than nine hours – was due to a “mechanical fault”. Singtel customers had reported connectivity issues on three consecutive days starting from Mar 16. “We know how important it is to stay connected and recognise the impact these incidents may have had on our customers. This should not have happened. We sincerely apologise,” he said. On Mar 16, about 15 per cent of its customers started having mobile connectivity issues from about 10.30am due to a “mechanical fault” at one of Singtel’s network facilities, said Mr Ng. According to an investor factsheet, Singtel has 4.5 million mobile customers in Singapore as of end-March last year. “Though multiple redundancy measures were in place to support seamless service continuity, our situation required reconfiguration which took time to fully take effect.” He said that 4G services for affected customers were restored by around 1.30pm and 5G services …

The issues, which affect a wide range of models, could significantly increase crash risks. One recall impacts 849,310 units of the 2021-2026 Ford Bronco and 2021-2024 Ford Edge. An internal component within the infotainment system of these vehicles may overheat and fail, preventing the rearview image from appearing when reversing. Ford is offering a complimentary software update for the Accessory Protocol Interface Module (APIM) to address this. Separately, a second recall covers 889,950 vehicles, including certain 2020-2022 Ford Escapes and Lincoln Corsairs, alongside 2020-2024 Lincoln Aviators and Explorers. For these models, the rearview camera image may display as flipped or inverted, potentially disorienting drivers. Ford is offering a …

NASA says moon mission could be delayed after discovering rocket fault | Science, Climate & Tech News

NASA may delay its mission to send astronauts to the moon for the first time in more than half a century after discovering a fault with its rocket. Artemis II has been due to blast off from Florida’s Kennedy Space Center from as early as March. On Friday night, however, NASA discovered that the flow of helium – which is required for launch – to the rocket had been interrupted during a key part of the preparation process. A NASA spokesperson said: “This will almost assuredly impact the March launch window.” Before the setback, the agency had announced that it was targeting 6 March to launch four astronauts around the moon and back. The crew includes three US astronauts – Reid Wiseman, Victor Glover and Christina Koch – and CanadianJeremy Hansen. They would become the first astronauts to fly to the moon since Apollo 17 in 1972 and make the farthest human flight into space ever.
