Forget the Red Carpet: At the Cannes Film Festival 2026, the Stars Are Just as Chic in Casual Looks

Forget the Red Carpet: At the Cannes Film Festival 2026, the Stars Are Just as Chic in Casual Looks

The Cannes Film Festival 2026 is proceeding at full speed, with glamour on every corner. But some of the chicest looks aren’t on the red carpet, the undisputed scene of the glitziest gowns. Instead, take a peek at the sunny streets of the French resort and in the cult celebrity sighting spots for some of the cooler fits in Cannes—or toward the trip to the stars’ favorite hotels. Begin at the Nice airport, where the big stars disembark. Along with the entrance to the main hotels on the Croisette, the French airport has become a veritable catwalk filled with celebrities sporting casual looks. Cascades of sequins or sumptuous long dresses are lovely, but who wants to wear that on a plane? Let’s face it, it’s not just sequins, rustling silks, and lamé that the Cannes Film Festival is made of. Practical jeans, oversize shirts, T-shirts, or sundresses are the foundation of daytime outfits for the festival’s biggest names. When you’re off the clock (or the carpet) why suffer, when less rigorous and constructed looks can …

John Travolta Is Wearing Berets at the Cannes Film Festival

John Travolta Is Wearing Berets at the Cannes Film Festival

John Travolta wears many metaphorical hats. He’s an Academy Award-nominated actor, a producer, a singer, and a licensed pilot. Now, the 72-year-old is adding director to his resume, making his directorial debut with Propeller One-Way Night Coach at the 2026 Cannes Film Festival this week. He is also now wearing many literal hats. John Travolta and his daughter, Ella Bleu Travolta, at the Cannes Film Festival on Friday. ( He paired his choice of headwear with circular dark-wired frames and a three-piece black suit. The beret seems to be a new signature for Travolta, who was awarded an honorary Palme d’Or at this year’s festival. In a new Instagram video, the actor shows that he piloted his own plane to Cannes with his daughter, 26-year-old Ella Bleu Travolta, who co-stars in her father’s film that is based on a children’s book he wrote in 1997. …

San Sebastián Film Festival Found Its Sweet Spot

San Sebastián Film Festival Found Its Sweet Spot

If you’ve spent time on the film festival circuit, you’re probably aware of the “hidden gem” reputation of the San Sebastián International Film Festival. The “gem” part is easy to explain: global cinema, glittery stars, enthusiastic locals, a size that allows for real connections, world-renowned cuisine and the inimitable charm of this bay-set Basque city. It’s the “hidden” part of the equation that raises some eyebrows.  After 73 editions, San Sebastián still remains slightly off the radar for some in the industry, shadowed by its bigger European counterparts. Despite its melding of international auteurs and A-list celebrities, SSIFF is sometimes pigeonholed as mostly focused on Spain and Latin America. Timing is also not in its favor: The September fest comes on the heels of Venice and sometimes overlaps with Toronto, meaning it battles titans for world premieres.  “I think one of the San Sebastián Film Festival’s strengths is its awareness of its core characteristics and its refusal to try to be anything else,” says SSIFF director José Luis Rebordinos, who will retire after 15 years following …

‘Super-glamorous’: older women in the spotlight at Cannes film festival | Women

The Cannes red carpet is, without question, a home of glamour. But in 2026 that glamour has a different spin. The women gaining the most headlines for style are, for once, over 70. Joan Collins, 92, walked the red carpet this week in a white sculptural strapless gown by Stéphane Rolland. Jane Fonda, 88, wore a floor-length sequined Gucci dress. Isabella Rossellini, 73, has been seen wearing a striking patterned two-piece, while Catherine Deneuve, 82, was chic in forest-green satin and hoop earrings. ‘Super-glamorous’: Joan Collins in a gown by Stéphane Rolland. Apple Slashes iPhone 17 Prices in China for Annual 618 Festival

Apple Slashes iPhone 17 Prices in China for Annual 618 Festival

Apple has slashed prices on the iPhone 17 Pro series in China by 1,000 yuan (around $138) in anticipation of the annual 618 shopping festival, one of the country’s largest mid-year online retail events. The cuts went live on Friday on JD.com and Tmall, with Apple’s official store on the latter platform applying a direct 1,000-yuan discount on the iPhone 17 Pro series. On JD.com, taking into consideration trade-in offers and platform promotions, some iPhone 17 Pro models can be picked up for as low as 6,999 yuan (around $968). That’s the lowest price since the device’s launch, according to the Global Times. The standard iPhone 17 also received its first notable markdown. Some configurations are now available for 4,499 yuan (around $622) including discounts, bringing it well under the 6,000-yuan threshold for China’s national trade-in subsidy, which knocks 15% off qualifying devices up to a 500-yuan cap – something that customers of the Pro models miss out on. News of Apple’s price cuts quickly shot to the top of social media platform Weibo’s trending …
