In what sources have characterised as one of the most tense exchanges between the two leaders since Trump returned to office, Trump is said to have confronted Netanyahu during a telephone conversation on Monday over concerns about Israel’s continued military activity in Lebanon, which he fears could derail Iran ceasefire negotiations after Tehran threatened to withdraw from discussions over Israel’s conduct. Following the call, Trump posted on Truth Social that Iran truce talks, which have reportedly included discussions about ending hostilities in Lebanon, were “continuing, at a rapid pace” after suggesting that Israel had halted operations in Beirut. Trump and Netanyahu have maintained regular contact since launching joint military operations in Iran, which also triggered escalated conflict between Israel and Lebanon’s Iran-backed paramilitary political organisation Hezbollah. Many states are trying to crack down on the newest frontier in the financial wild west: prediction markets. Although best known as places for betting on sports, which the Supreme Court ruled is legal during President Donald Trump’s first term, these platforms have ballooned in usage in the past year with users betting on all manner of topics from presidential elections to warfare. The conflicts of interest and questionably moral options to bet on the misfortune of others has prompted many states to try and rein these platforms in. But the Commodity Futures Trading Commission, an independent federal agency that regulates the United States derivatives markets, is not a fan. In 2026, the CFTC sued Illinois, New York, Arizona, Connecticut and, most recently, Minnesota for efforts to restrict or ban prediction markets. On Monday, Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz signed a total ban on futures trading platforms like Kalshi and Polymarket. In 2009, director Jason Lin decided to set Fast & Furious, the fourth Fast & Furious movie, before its predecessor, 2006’s The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift. Although that decision allowed Lin to bring fan-favorite Han (Sung Kang) back from the apparently-dead, it created one of the most confusing timelines in action-franchise history. The fifth and sixth Fast films are also Tokyo Drift prequels, and then the post-credit scene of 2011’s Fast 6 brought us current once again with Han’s Tokyo “death.” The subsequent four movies (and the spinoff Hobbs & Shaw) have continued on that post-Tokyo road. And so you could technically experience the Fast saga in chronological order by watching 1, 2, 4, 5, 6 (minus the credit sequence), 3, 7, 8, Hobbs & Shaw, 9, and 10. Donald Trump shut down a BBC reporter in a furious tirade on Air Force One. The biggest, buzziest, and most emotional screening at the 2026 Cannes Film Festival wasn’t a foreign art-house film or a future Oscar-nominated movie. While much of the talk out of the South of France this week has been about Hollywood and the major studios opting to skip the prestigious celebration of cinema, one blockbuster franchise wasn’t afraid to race onto the Croisette: Fast & Furious. It’s just after 2 a.m. at Cannes, and tears are rolling down Vin Diesel’s face. Known for playing macho action hero Dominic Toretto, the 58-year-old actor is letting his feelings pour out of him. The credits have just rolled on a special 25th-anniversary midnight “classics” presentation of Diesel’s star-making vehicle, 2001’s The Fast and the Furious, and he’s almost speechless after watching his late costar Paul Walker. In a Cannes lacking in star power, the Fast & Furious 25th anniversary screening at the Palais was a hot ticket, with Vin Diesel on hand to give a tear-filled tribute to the late Paul Walker. It was nearing midnight, but the Croisette was busy with the area around the Grand Lumiere theater completely packed with onlookers. The screening itself was not the usual black tie affair; instead, Universal asked guests to adhere to a “casual chic” dress code. For his part, Diesel stepped onto the carpet in a bedazzled suit jacket that was emblazoned with the words ”Fast Forever” in rhinestones.
