The British actor and chat show host, who co-created and starred in the hit sitcom alongside Ruth Jones, gave his thoughts during an appearance at the BBC Comedy Festival last week. Gavin & Stacey ran for 22 episodes on the BBC between 2007 and 2024, including three Christmas specials. The California governor appeared on Real Time with Bill Maher, probably expecting the kind of warm exchange that comes with being a friend of the host. What he got instead was a methodical, public undressing from one of liberalism’s most prominent voices — and it proves how weak Newsom really is as a potential presidential candidate. It may be early, but the Democratic presidential primary field for 2028 is slowly starting to take shape, and Newsom is quite clearly an early contender. Kamala Harris is the undisputed frontrunner at this point, owing much to her four years as vice president, but Newsom remains the only other potential candidate who has ever topped a primary poll to date. Gwen Stefani’s ex-husband, Gavin Rossdale, shared unexpected insight into the duo’s parenting dynamic following their split in 2015. Taskmaster is returning for another hilarious outing on Channel 4, with Greg Davies and Alex Horne back for a 21st season of the show. And the good news is there isn’t long to go, with Taskmaster season 21 kicking off on Thursday 9 April at 9pm. Following on from season 20, new episodes will be released in the US on YouTube immediately after they are shown in the UK, giving fans Stateside a dose of the wacky comedy. Gavin & Stacey favourite Rob Brydon stars in a first look at the BBC’s new comedy Bill’s Included. The sitcom follows Bill Beam, played by Brydon, a well-meaning but over-enthusiastic divorcee who rents his spare rooms to students to stay afloat. As Bill tries, and often fails, to be both a responsible landlord and honorary housemate, he and his mismatched lodgers muddle through chaos, growing pains and unexpected friendships. Joining Brydon in the cast are Samantha Spiro (Waiting for the Out) and Nigel Lindsay (MobLand) as Bill’s neighbours, Siobhan and Martin, while Kevin Eldon (Trigger Point) is record store owner Drew.
