IKEA is coming to Pokémon Pokopia later this week

IKEA is coming to Pokémon Pokopia later this week

Pokémon Pokopia players looking to add a touch of Swedish charm to their islands are about to get just that with a new IKEA collaboration. Since its launch earlier this month, Pokopia has quickly risen to become an unlikely game of the year contender, going so far as to rival Resident Evil Requiem for the highest critic rating on Metacritic. Now, to celebrate a game that is, in many ways, about furniture and decoration, it is perhaps fitting that Swedish homeware titan IKEA is set to get in on the action. IKEA Japan will be running a promotion from 1 April in which players will be able to “experience what it’s like to live in a home designed by IKEA’s designers”. By inputting a special code, players will be able to visit ‘IKEA Island’, where you’ll find rooms decorated by those very same designers, inspired by Pikachu and Snorlax. Want to see this content? Pokémon Pokopia Skiploom Habitat: How to get Skiploom explained In order to find Skiploom in Pokopia, you need to build either the Yellow Carpet Habitat or Field-trip Friends Habitat. Pokémon Pokopia review – collectible creatures create their own perfect world | Games

Pokémon Pokopia review – collectible creatures create their own perfect world | Games

Bear with me here: Pokémon has always had an environmentalist subtext. As you wander its verdant, creature-filled worlds, collecting species like an acquisitive David Attenborough, you are constantly shown that people and Pokémon should live in harmony. The bad guys in these stories, from Team Rocket to Bill Nighy in the Detective Pikachu film, are always the ones who want to abuse these creatures for personal gain. Otherwise you are shown that people must have respect for Pokémon; both the critters you catch and the ones that exist in the wild. There is a delicate independency between humans and the natural world. In this new spin-off from the series, we see what happens when there are no humans around. You, a shapeshifting blob of jelly called Ditto, awaken in a half-demolished wasteland that was once, presumably, a lively town. There are some other Pokémon around, confused and lonely, and together you work to restore the place and make it beautiful again. Taking the uncanny humanoid form of your half-remembered former trainer, you learn useful talents …

‘Pokémon Pokopia’ is the best, cutest Pokémon game in years

‘Pokémon Pokopia’ is the best, cutest Pokémon game in years

You can find plenty of doom-and-gloom takes about the Nintendo Switch 2. Many of them boil down to complaints about the lack of compelling exclusive games for the system. The users making these complaints, however, have not yet played Pokémon Pokopia. A combined effort from Nintendo, The Pokémon Company, Game Freak, and Koei Tecmo, Pokémon Pokopia launches exclusively on Switch 2 on March 5. More importantly, you may not be prepared for how big of a deal this game might be. Credit: The Pokémon Company Essentially, the Nintendo team took Minecraft, stripped off the ugly art style, added social friendship mechanics a la Stardew Valley, and put a bunch of Pokémon in it. Personally, I do not vibe with these types of games at all. But Pokopia combines player creativity, charming writing, a magnetic sense of progression that makes it hard to put down, and a downright shocking level of depth. It legitimately has me hooked. I want to keep digging away at Pokopia just to see what it has to offer, and it hasn’t …
