Are there shinies in Pokopia? Shiny Pokémon in Pokopia explained

Shiny Pokémon have been a staple of the series since the release of Gold and Silver in 1998, but are there shinies in Pokémon Pokopia?

While a spin-off of the Pokémon-battling main series, Pokopia retains the creature collection element.

So, it’s hardly a surprise that some players will want to cultivate a shiny-only Pokémon ethnostate, similar to the cat-only islands of the early Animal Crossing: New Horizons days.

But what’s the status on shinies in Pokopia? Here’s everything you need to know.

Are there shinies in Pokopia? Shiny Pokémon in Pokémon Pokopia explained

Unfortunately, there are no shiny Pokémon available in Pokémon Pokopia.

Unlike the main games, where all Pokémon can have a shiny variant, prompting players to shiny hunt and soft reset their games, Pokopia is shiny-less.

This is probably because Pokopia only has one of each Pokémon available, so to keep things uniform, it makes sense for none of them to be shiny.

That being said, there’s no reason why shinies couldn’t be introduced in the future.

Nintendo has already confirmed that the game will be receiving regular updates, including new content and new Pokémon coming to the game.

Just as the anime sometimes introduced shiny Pokémon, such as Ash’s Noctowl way back when, perhaps a future Pokopia event will introduce one or two unique shiny Pokémon into the mix.

That being said, we think it’s unlikely that a system like the main games where any Pokémon can be shiny will be introduced, as it wouldn’t really fit the style of Pokopia’s particular brand of creature collection.

We are, of course, happy to be proven wrong on this front, though!
