Not even the die-hard loyalists of 2006’s fashion satire The Devil Wears Prada expected much from its return to the big screen: a “cerulean sweater” callback, certainly, alongside some washed out lighting and plenty of egregious product placement. All are, unfortunately, present in The Devil Wears Prada 2 – get ready to play a hypercapitalist Where’s Wally? with all the snuck-in Diet Coke cans. Yet the sequel has also seemingly come out of nowhere to deliver what might be the most trenchant, committed portrait made about the state of contemporary journalism. Twenty years on from its predecessor, The Devil Wears Prada 2 works like a demon to bring us back to the world of Runway magazine, the fictional fashion glossy that has more than a whiff of Vogue about it. The core cast all return, which means Meryl Streep reprises her Oscar-nominated Anna Wintour-alike editor-in-chief Miranda Priestly (or “Beastly” as she gets dubbed). As the sequel begins, Priestly is still at Runway, but the print magazine is tanking; numbers are down, its nearly all gone digital and everything is about clicks. Welcome to the world of journalism in the 21st Century. Worse still, Miranda foolishly endorses a brand that uses sweat shop labour, causing outrage. Enola Holmes 3 finally confirms release date with first look at sequel

Netflix has revealed when fans can expect Enola Holmes 3 to be released, while also unveiling some first-look images. The upcoming film has been penned by Jack Thorne and will follow Millie Bobby Brown’s Enola as she travels to Malta, where “personal and professional dreams collide in a case more tangled and treacherous than any she has faced before”. It is set to be released globally on 1 July 2026. One of the new images shows Enola in what appears to be a wedding dress (above), while another shows the character in trouble in a burning building (below). Creative Assembly drops first look at the ‘Alien: Isolation’ sequel

Twelve years after the original Alien: Isolation game was released across platforms, on the official “Alien Day” meant to celebrate the beloved franchise, game developers Creative Assembly are returning to the world of xenomorphs and unreliable robots to once again terrify the living daylights out of us. The teaser trailer, aptly titled “False Sense of Security,” does a lot with very little, from the flashing red light in a poorly lit room to the ominous background music and eventual close-up of what looks to be a payphone, with the word “Emergency” appropriately backlit. As you might expect from the makers of the original game, Creative Assembly is clearly reluctant to over-share, relying on atmosphere and sound to do the heavy lifting, but the brief glimpse we get of the background when the door opens suggests the possibility that, unlike the first game, the sequel might also take place on a planet’s surface, perhaps hinting at a much larger game world. The new biopic about Michael Jackson was generating controversy before it had even hit cinemas. In the lead-up to its release, Michael was torn apart by critics, many of whom took issue with the fact that it comes to an end in 1988, meaning the controversies that surrounded Jackson in his later years – most notably the allegations of child sexual abuse levelled against him – were left unexplored in the film. However, scenes addressing these allegations were originally intended to be included in the film, only to wind up on the cutting room floor, with reports suggesting that they could potentially be included in a sequel to Michael in the future. The show, which would have seen Alicia Silverstone reprise her role as Cher Horowitz, has been in development since last year. However, Variety reports that CBS Studios and Paramount remain keen on the project, and they may seek to find an alternative home for the series on another platform or streaming service. Silverstone said last August, months after the project was initially announced, that the project is still in the “baby stages.” In an interview with Today, Silverstone said: “I’m really excited about it. After the audience at this week’s Michael premiere was treated to over two hours’ worth of hits, a title card came across the screen. In shimmery gold lettering, it read: “His Story Continues.” For many of the stakeholders behind the Michael Jackson biopic, or anyone who has read the hundreds of headlines Michael and its unexpectedly protracted production generated over the past year, the proclamation could be read as either a defiant declaration or an open-ended question about the status of a Michael: Part 2. The biopic was never intended to be a two-parter, but for the last year, under a messy cloud of reshoots and pushed release dates, the idea of splitting the film took form.
