Sinners Wins for Outstanding Performance by Cast at 2026 Actor Awards

Sinners Wins for Outstanding Performance by Cast at 2026 Actor Awards

Sinners is officially on the board. The most-nominated movie at this year’s Oscars — and, for that matter, in the history of the Oscars — has won at the 2026 Actor Awards for best ensemble, a crucial precursor in the Oscars’ best-picture race. It’s also Sinners’ first top win at one of the major Oscar precursor awards so far this season, with One Battle After Another having effectively run the table to this point — including at last night’s Producers Guild Awards.  Now we’ve got a race. Sinners was favored by many to win here, given its strength with casting/ensemble precursor awards, but SAG-AFTRA tends to bestow its top prize to an overall industry favorite — whether clear Oscar front-runners like Oppenheimer and Everything Everywhere All at Once or underdogs like Parasite and CODA. Of course, all of those movies went on to win the top Oscar, a trajectory that Sinners will hope to emulate.  “This project is anointed, and from that standpoint, we are all anointed to be on this incredible journey created by …

‘Sinners’ Star Jayme Lawson Speaks Out on BAFTA Tourette Incident

‘Sinners’ Star Jayme Lawson Speaks Out on BAFTA Tourette Incident

Sinners actress Jayme Lawson candidly shared her thoughts on last weekend’s incident at the BAFTA Awards while speaking with The Hollywood Reporter on the NAACP Image Awards red carpet last night. “I’ll first say a big shout-out to Mike and Delroy; let’s continue to honor them for how they handled that in real time,” Lawson said about Michael B. Jordan and Delroy Lindo having the N-word shouted at them by guest John Davidson, who has Tourette Syndrome, while they were onstage to present at the British awards ceremony. “The grace and the dignity that they exercised and the whole home team, everybody that was out there really carried themselves well. “I think the events this weekend exposed a couple of things,” Lawson continued. “Institutionally, we still don’t understand what inclusion means. Just because you invite someone into a space, but you don’t provide the necessary resources to keep them and everyone else in that room safe by them being there, that’s not inclusivity. That’s exploitation.” That man’s disability got exploited that night, and it led to …

At the end of the week that saw the 2026 BAFTA Awards descend into controversy after guest John Davidson, who has Tourette Syndrome, shouted the N-word while Michael B. Jordan and Delroy Lindo presented an award, the 2026 NAACP Image Awards offered numerous opportunities for those affected by the incident to express their support for Jordan and Lindo. And Lindo himself offered his first public comments on the incident, taking the stage with his Sinners writer-director Ryan Coogler a little over an hour into the ceremony to loud applause at the Pasadena Civic Auditorium. “I’d just like to officially say, I appreciate, we appreciate all the support and love we have been shown in the aftermath of what happened last weekend. It means a lot to us,” Lindo said. He added the moment is a “classic case of something that could be very negative becoming very positive” and reflected on the “honor” of being at the NAACP Image Awards. BAFTA has since offered a full apology for the incident, which reached a wider audience when …

Buddy Guy and Miles Caton’s ‘Sinners’ Tiny Desk Concert is pure blues magic

Buddy Guy and Miles Caton’s ‘Sinners’ Tiny Desk Concert is pure blues magic

Legendary musician Buddy Guy brought the blues to NPR’s Tiny Desk Concert series, with a guest appearance from Sinners actor Miles Caton. SEE ALSO: ‘Sinners’ review: Ryan Coogler and Michael B. Jordan deliver a vampire movie for the ages The pair co-star in Ryan Coogler’s Academy Award-nominated smash hit. Caton plays gifted blues singer Sammie “Preacher Boy” Moore, whose music is so brilliant it transcends time (and lures a crew of vampires right to him). Guy plays Sammie 60 years on, when he’s deep into a successful blues career. Guy kicks off his Tiny Desk Concert with his 1991 track “Damn Right, I’ve Got the Blues” before shifting to his cover of Muddy Waters’ “Hoochie Coochie Man.” After these classic blues songs, Guy invites Caton to join him for two songs from the Sinners soundtrack. First up is “Travelin,’” which Sammie sings while driving around with Stack (Michael B. Jordan). Then, Guy and Caton launch into “I Lied to You,” the song that brings the house down in Smoke (also Jordan) and Stack’s juke joint. …

One Battle After Another, Sinners

One Battle After Another, Sinners

A slew of top Oscar contenders won ACE Eddie Awards for the best in editing on Friday night, affirming their positioning as top Oscar contenders as final Academy voting has just gotten underway.  When it came to top best-picture candidates One Battle After Another and Sinners, at least, the American Cinema Editors guild did not have to decide, with One Battle’s Andy Jurgensen and Sinners’ Michael P. Shawver, respectively, winning the theatrical comedy and theatrical drama categories. The Oscars only have one editing category, of course, and both ACE Eddie winners are nominated there alongside Sentimental Value, Marty Supreme and F1 — all of which were nominated for ACE Eddies between their two main theatrical categories. Netflix dominated the rest of the feature-film lineup, with KPop Demon Hunters’ Nathan Schauf winning for animation and The Perfect Neighbor’s Viridiana Lieberman taking home the documentary award. Both movies continue to cruise to Oscar night, where they’re heavily favored to win — though The Perfect Neighbor’s biggest competition, BAFTA doc winner Mr. Nobody Against Putin, was not nominated …

How to watch Sinners – is it streaming?

Ryan Coogler’s hugely acclaimed Sinners proved to be a big hit at the box office – and the horror movie has just passed yet another milestone as it broke the record for the most Oscar nominations in history. Sinners stars Michael B Jordan in a dual role as twin brothers Smoke and Stack, who return to their Mississippi home from Chicago in the 1930s with the goal of setting up a juke joint – only for its grand opening to be interrupted by some… unfriendly visitors. The vampire flick got a whopping 16 nominations, surpassing All About Eve (1950), Titanic (1997) and La La Land (2016), which previously held the title with 14 apiece. It’s a remarkable achievement for a film which has won pretty much unanimous praise from both critics and cinemagoers, with everything from the performances to its soundtrack to its narrative earning major plaudits. If you’ve not yet seen the film – or are perhaps wanting to know when you can rewatch it from the comfort of your own home – you …
