Ever since the Golden State Warriors were knocked out of the NBA play-in tournament a couple of weeks ago, there have been nonstop questions about whether the franchise’s championship window has closed, whether it’s time to consider a true rebuild, whether Steve Kerr will return as head coach. One thing that’s absolutely certain: Steph Curry just ended one of the greatest seasons in sneaker history.

After splitting from his longtime shoe sponsor Under Armour in November—bringing an abrupt end to one of the blandest signature lines of all time—Curry rebounded by going on a generational footwear run, sporting a slew of all-time classic kicks and IYKYK rarities both on the hardwood and in the pregame tunnel. His kicks of choice often bore deep connections to the cities he was playing in (like a pair of Vince Carter’s Shox BB4s in Toronto) or his own history (Klay Thompson’s Anta KT11 for the All-Star Game). And given that Curry still remains a sneaker free agent, the future Hall of Famer was able to hop from Nike to Reebok to Adidas to Dada Supremes on any given night.

Now, with the regular season in the rearview, Curry is commemorating the year by auctioning off 75 pairs from his sneaker free agency through Sotheby’s, with the proceeds benefiting EAT. LEARN. PLAY., a children’s nonprofit he founded in Oakland. With the auction set to close on April 28, we decided to dive deep on a baker’s dozen of the illest pairs.

Curry didn’t waste any time following his split from Under Armour. The night after the news broke, he warmed up before a game in San Antonio wearing a pair of Nike Kobe 6s designed in memory of the late Gigi Bryant. Seeing Steph wearing Swooshes for the first time in nearly 15 years felt like a fever dream for sneakerheads—and the moment was all the more powerful given the story behind the pair he chose.
