Gas outages hit parts of Tehran after a strike on a university, Iran’s state broadcaster reported on Monday.
The attack “hit the Sharif University gas station and we are facing a temporary gas outage in the Sharif neighbourhood,” state broadcaster IRIB quoted the head of Tehran’s District 9 neighbourhood as saying.
Iran threatens ‘much more devastating’ retaliation if civilian targets hit
Iran’s central military command warned on Monday of “much more devastating” retaliation if its adversaries hit civilian targets.
“If attacks on civilian targets are repeated, the next stages of our offensive and retaliatory operations will be much more devastating and widespread,” a spokesman for the Khatam al-Anbiya Central Headquarters said in a statement posted by state broadcaster IRIB on Telegram.
The warning came after US President Donald Trump threatened to destroy Iran’s civilian infrastructure, demanding Tehran bow to his demands for a deal to reopen the Gulf to shipping.
Kuwait army says air defences responding to missile, drone attack
Kuwait’s army said Monday its air defences were working to intercept missiles and drones fired towards the Gulf nation’s territory.
“Kuwaiti Air Defenses are currently responding to hostile missile and drone threats,” the army posted on X.
The country previously said it was responding to similar attacks overnight from Sunday to Monday.
UAE says air defences responding to missile, drone attack
The United Arab Emirates said Monday its air defences were responding to a missile and drone attack.
Air defence systems “are actively engaging with missiles and UAV (Unmanned Aerial Vehicle) threats,” the defence ministry (MOD) posted on X.
“MOD asserts that the sounds heard across the country are the result of ongoing engaging operations of missiles and UAVs.”

US crude benchmark opens over $113, Brent above $110
Crude oil prices opened higher on Monday, with US benchmark West Texas Intermediate up 1.86 percent to $113.62 a barrel, as the war in the Middle East continues to squeeze global energy supplies.
North Sea Brent crude was also higher at the week’s market opening, climbing 1.16 percent to $110.30 a barrel.
President Donald Trump has set a Tuesday deadline for Iran to end the war and reopen shipping in the critical Strait of Hormuz waterway, threatening in an expletive-laden social media post Sunday to strike the country’s power plants and bridges if it did not comply.
“Tuesday will be Power Plant Day, and Bridge Day, all wrapped up in one, in Iran. There will be nothing like it!!!” Trump wrote on his Truth Social platform, before later telling Fox News he thought there was a “good chance” Iran would agree to a deal on Monday.
Israeli rescuers search for missing people after buidling hit by Iran missile
Israeli firefighters were searching for three missing people in the rubble of a residential building in the northern city of Haifa after it was struck by an Iranian missile.
The direct hit on a seven-storey building tore through parts of the structure, injuring four people, the military and rescue services said.
The strike took place minutes after the military warned it had detected a new round of missiles fired from Iran at around 1500 GMT.
The building was hit by a “direct impact of a missile”, a military spokesperson told AFP, confirming the missile was fired from Iran.

UNIFIL says Israel, Hezbollah attacks near its positions ‘could draw return fire’
The United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon said attacks by Israel and Hezbollah near its positions “could potentially draw return fire”.
In a statement, UNIFIL said it was “extremely concerned” about attacks from both sides “carried out from near our positions, which could potentially draw return fire”.
It urged them to “put down their weapons and work seriously toward a ceasefire”.
Israel army chief visits troops in south Lebanon, vows to up strikes on Hezbollah
Israel’s military chief Lieutenant General Eyal Zamir visited troops in southern Lebanon and pledged to intensify strikes against Hezbollah.
“The IDF is striking Hezbollah, a terrorist organisation, with determination, extensively, and across multiple fronts,” Zamir said, according to a statement issued by the military.
“Over 1,000 Hezbollah terrorists have been eliminated, and that number will continue to rise. The damage to Hezbollah will intensify.”
Trump appears to extend Iran deadline in cryptic post
US President Donald Trump appeared to extend his deadline for Iran to make a deal to reopen the Strait of Hormuz or face devastating bombardment, posting a message stating simply: “Tuesday, 8:00 PM Eastern Time!”
The new deadline, 0000 GMT Wednesday, would push back his ultimatum on Tehran by one day, after which Trump has vowed to destroy the country’s power plants and bridges.

US President Donald Trump said his deadline for Iran to open the Strait of Hormuz or face attacks on critical infrastructure is Tuesday evening, according to an interview he gave to the Wall Street Journal published on Sunday.
“If they don’t do something by Tuesday evening, they won’t have any power plants and they won’t have any bridges standing,” Trump told the Journal. In a social media post earlier on Sunday, Trump had said Iran would face infrastructure attacks if it did not open the strait by Tuesday.
Russia’s Lavrov says US should ‘abandon language of ultimatums’
Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said Washington should abandon “the language of ultimatums” and return to negotiations, in a telephone conversation with his Iranian counterpart, his office said.
“The Russian side expressed hope that the efforts undertaken by a number of states to de-escalate tensions around Iran will be successful,” said a read-out of his conversation with Iran’s Abbas Araghchi.
That, it added, “would be facilitated by the United States abandoning the language of ultimatums and returning the situation to a negotiating track”.
Iran parliament speaker warns Trump ‘whole region going to burn’
Iran’s powerful parliament speaker warned US President Donald Trump hat his “reckless moves” would mean “our whole region is going to burn”.
“Your reckless moves are dragging the United States into a living HELL for every single family, and our whole region is going to burn because you insist on following Netanyahu’s commands,” Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf wrote in an X post in English, referring to Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
Ghalibaf added that the “only real solution is respecting the rights of the Iranian people and ending this dangerous game”.
Israel says Haifa residential building suffers direct hit in Iran missile attack
The Israeli military and medics said that a missile fired from Iran hit a residential building in the northern city of Haifa, injuring four people.
The building was hit by a “direct impact of a missile”, the military told AFP. When asked if it was a missile fired from Iran, it said: “Yes.”
In a separate statement, Israel’s emergency service, Magen David Adom, said four people were wounded when a seven-storey building sustained a direct hit.
Hamas armed wing says disarmament calls are unacceptable
Hamas’ armed wing said on Sunday raising the issue of the group’s disarmament in a “crude manner” was an attempt to continue what he called a genocide against the Palestinian people.
In a televised statement, the Hamas armed wing spokesperson said the group would not accept such demands “under any circumstances”.
Israel renews Lebanon strikes
Israeli strikes on south Beirut and its suburbs killed at least four people, a day after Israel threatened to hit Lebanon’s main border crossing with Syria, forcing it to close.
The Israeli military also carried out deadly attacks on Lebanon’s south, one of which killed seven people including a family of six.

China FM tells Russia’s Lavrov willing to work to ‘de-escalate’ Mideast war
China’s top diplomat told his Russian counterpart that he is willing to work together to “de-escalate” the war in the Middle East, Beijing’s state media reported.
Wang Yi told Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov in a phone call that “China and Russia should uphold fairness on major issues of principle”, state news agency Xinhua said, noting that the call came at Lavrov’s request.
Wang said that “the situation in the Middle East is still deteriorating and fighting is escalating”, Xinhua reported.
He also reiterated China’s call for an “immediate ceasefire” to the fighting triggered by US-Israeli strikes against Iran that began on February 28.
UAE says Iran strategy will boost Israeli influence in the Gulf
Israeli influence in the Gulf will increase as a result of Iran’s strategy in the region, UAE presidential advisor Anwar Gargash said, as Tehran pressed an air campaign against its neighbours.
“The Iranian strategy will actually concretise the American role… It will not reduce it. We will also see Israeli influence become more prominent in the Gulf, not less,” Gargash said, in remarks released to the media on Sunday.
The advisor also confirmed the UAE was ready to “join any American-led effort, international effort to secure navigation in the Strait of Hormuz”.
US sent guns to Iranian anti-regime protesters, Trump tells Fox News
The US sent guns to Iranian protesters earlier this year through the Kurds, President Donald Trump told Fox News.
“We sent them a lot of guns. We sent them through the Kurds. And I think the Kurds kept them,” said Trump in an interview.
Last month, CNN reported that the CIA was working to arm Iranian Kurdish forces opposed to the regime with the aim of fomenting a popular uprising in Iran.
