A woman who stole £60 worth of chicken from a supermarket asked to go to prison for as long as possible.
Emma Britton targeted a Co-op in Solihull on December 1 last year.
The incident was captured on CCTV. The 51-year-old, who is currently in custody at HMP Foston Hall in Derbyshire, admitted theft from a shop.

At Birmingham Magistrates’ Court on Thursday, February 5, she declined the opportunity of an Intensive Supervision Court (ISC) order, an alternative to jail involving regular meetings with the probation service and monthly progress sessions with a judge.
“Please send her to prison as long as you can,” said defence solicitor Alexandra Youster relaying the instructions she had received from Britton.
She added: “To her credit she accepts prison is the place she needs to be at this moment in time. She asks you give her that.”
District Judge Michelle Smith stated the offence was ‘aggravated’ by Britton’s previous record and confirmed immediate imprisonment was the ‘only sentence available’ given she had turned down an ISC order.
She sentenced her to eight weeks prompting Britton, appearing on a prison video link, to respond saying: “Can’t you give me longer?”
Judge Smith stated the sentence was ‘proportionate’ to the offence and confirmed: “That’s the decision of the court.”
Britton was also ordered to pay £20 compensation to Co-op.
