Coronation Street and EastEnders legends’ new thriller date confirmed

Coronation Street and EastEnders legends’ new thriller date confirmed

The world of morning TV is set to grow sinister in upcoming drama Number One Fan, which is set to air on 5.

The series sees soap stars Sally Lindsay and Jill Halfpenny join forces for what is set to be quite the rollercoaster ride as a morning TV show host is saved from an attack by an obsessed fan.

Well now, we know exactly when the drama is set to premiere as it’s now been confirmed that Number One Fan will start airing on 5 on Monday 4 May at 9pm.

Like many binge-worthy 5 thrillers, the show will be available to stream online from that day but will air each night that week, continuing the following Tuesday 5 May up until the final fourth episode that Thursday.

The full synopsis for the four-part series teases: “Jill Halfpenny plays morning show presenter Lucy; the nation’s sweetheart, BFF and presenter of ‘Lucy Live’.

“She tells it like it is with a big smile on her face and a twinkle in her eye. She’s ambitious, hardworking and beneath it all, thoroughly ruthless.”

It continues: “Sally Lindsay is Donna; an obsessed fan who appears as a mousey, non-threatening nobody, but steps in to save Lucy from a horrific attack. Lucy’s gratitude quickly sours when Donna’s fandom turns into a darker obsession infiltrating Lucy’s career, family and friends.

“However to her horror Lucy comes to realise that Donna has a link to a hidden secret in her past which threatens to derail the career she has so carefully curated.”

The series sees Halfpenny star as TV presenter Lucy Logan, with the former EastEnders actress having already made a name for herself as a regular 5 drama star. As well as having starred in The Drowning, Halfpenny has also had starring roles in The Cuckoo and The Feud.

More recently, she has been seen in ITV’s After The Flood and Paramount+ drama Girl Taken.

As for Lindsay, many obviously know her from her days on Coronation Street but is now best known for her starring role in 5’s The Madame Blanc Mysteries.

When the casting was first announced in January, executive producer Mike Benson said: “We’ve obviously worked numerous times with two of the most talented actresses in the country in Sally and Jill – but never before in the same show.

“Seeing them both together on screen – and in two very surprising roles – is something I know viewers will be every bit as excited about as we are.”

Number One Fan premieres on 5 on Monday 4 May at 9pm, continuing with new episodes each night that week.
