Coronation Street spoilers for next week: Daniel faces losing everything

Coronation Street spoilers for next week: Daniel faces losing everything

It’s another busy week in Coronation Street, as Daniel Osbourne (Rob Mallard) takes a turn for the worse and neglects young son Bertie (Henry Duggan).

After a tense confrontation with Megan Walsh (Beth Nixon), and then another altercation with his family, social services knock on his door.

Meanwhile, the investigation into Theo Silverton’s (James Cartwright) murder continues, and one unlikely resident is brought in for questioning.

There’s fresh drama for David Platt (Jack P. Shepherd) amid Jodie Ramsey’s (Olivia Frances Brown) obsession with him, and Idris Nazir (Junade Khan) proves to be quite the enigma.

Here’s everything happening in Coronation Street between Monday 1 and Thursday 4 June.

8 Coronation Street spoilers for next week

1. Daniel Osbourne spirals and neglects son Bertie

As Daniel nervously steels himself for his return to work, Bertie sweetly gifts his dad a “World’s Best Teacher” mug – a touching gesture that’s cruelly short-lived when Lily Platt (Grace Ashcroft-Gardner) publicly taunts Daniel with fresh posts from Truthteller2.

Matters worsen when she deliberately barges into him in the corridor, smashing the mug to pieces. Already hanging by a thread, Daniel crumbles in tears while Jake Windass (Bobby Bradshaw) records the whole thing on his phone.

Consumed by anger and despair, he storms into the Rovers determined to drown his sorrows, only for Adam Barlow (Sam Roberton) to order Sean Tully (Antony Cotton) not to serve him.

Furious, Daniel heads back out and later corners Megan in the precinct, unleashing his rage and blaming her for destroying his life.

He heads home and obsessively scans his laptop for more hateful online posts when an offhand comment from Jodie suddenly makes everything click into place. Horrified, he realises she’s the troll who’s been tormenting him.

Daniel erupts, accusing her of pushing him into paranoia, depression and sleepless nights while pretending to support him throughout the ordeal. Jodie vehemently denies being Truthteller2, but Daniel throws her out regardless.

Still spiralling, Daniel drunkenly announces to the Rovers punters that she is his stalker, sending them into shock. Playing the victim, she flees in tears, while he stumbles home in no fit state to care for Bertie.

Daniel, Adam, Ken and Cassie in Coronation Street

By the time the youngster says he’s hungry, Daniel has already passed out on the sofa – in scenes mirroring those involving his older brother Peter Barlow (Chris Gascoyne) and his own son Simon (Alex Bain) from 2010. Left to fend for himself, Bertie attempts to make food, but disaster strikes when smoke begins flooding through the kitchen.

Terrified, the youngster runs out into the street while Daniel remains oblivious. As Bertie wanders alone, Daniel’s negligence leaves them both in peril.

The following morning brings fresh horror when he receives a call from the school asking why Bertie never arrived. Disoriented, he wakes properly and notices the chaos.

Adam furiously confronts Daniel over his reckless parenting and the row soon turns deeply personal when Adam invokes a memory of Sinead Tinker (Katie McGlynn). Daniel snaps completely, lashing out in anger and accidentally striking dad Ken Barlow (William Roache), knocking him to the ground.

Concerned for everyone involved, Tracy Barlow (Kate Ford) bluntly tells Ken and Adam that Daniel is no longer capable of looking after himself, let alone a child. Hoping to repair the damage, he later visits No.1 to make peace with Ken, but tensions rise again when he insists that Adam and Tracy remain part of the conversation.

When Ken warns Daniel he may be heading down the same destructive alcoholic road as Peter, Daniel storms out once more. But the biggest shock is still to come when a representative from social services, Ruth Hawley (Amy Drake), arrives on his doorstep.

2. More questions arise from Theo Silverton’s murder as a new suspect is revealed

After Lisa Connor-Swain (Vicky Myers) reveals she’s interviewed Danielle Silverton (Natalie Anderson), he visits Summer and is devastated when she admits she’s considering pleading guilty to manslaughter because she can’t see another way out.

Heartbroken, Todd later confides in Sarah Platt (Tina O’Brien) before attempting to reclaim his phone from the police – only for Lisa’s response to leave him stunned.

Later, she vents to Carla about her new superior, frustrated that Summer appears to be taking the blame for Theo’s murder while other leads are ignored. Her suspicions deepen when Todd’s missing phone turns up in a pawn shop, and it’s sent for forensic testing.

Idris turns on the charm with Leanne Battersby (Jane Danson) at Speed Daal and openly flirts as he suggests another night out together. Alya Nazir (Sair Khan) quickly warns Leanne she’s playing with fire.

Idris also approaches Alya professionally, asking her to oversee his legal affairs, leading Adam to agree to review the newcomer’s files before deciding whether to take him on as a client.

At the same time, Brody appears to be thriving while working for Idris – until Dylan Wilson (Liam McCheyne) makes a pointed remark about Brody’s past stealing cars for Carl. Leanne overhears the exchange and immediately grows suspicious, later quizzing Idris about exactly what kind of work he’s involving Brody in.

David finds himself battling guilt after another clash with Shona Platt (Julia Goulding) drives him into Jodie’s orbit. Offering a sympathetic ear, she reminds him of the night he climbed into bed with her and insists he even said her name – proof, she claims, that he knew exactly who she was.

Although he later reconciles with Shona, he struggles with mounting guilt, particularly when Jodie continues making sly comments about him saying her name.

Desperate for advice, David confides in Maria Connor (Samia Longchambon), who urges him to tell Shona the truth before the situation worsens.

Things become even more uncomfortable when the family gather at the Bistro for Bethany Platt’s (Lucy Fallon) birthday celebration, only for Jodie to derail the evening by obsessively discussing Theo’s murder and destroying the atmosphere completely.

She’s left more than a little surprised by his reaction, this being the second time in weeks that he’s been seen cosying up to his ex.

Should Maria be worried, or is she behaving irrationally?

8. Sam Blakeman’s hallucinations worsen

Fiz Dobbs (Jennie McAlpine) attempts to reunite Sam Blakeman (Jude Riordan) and Hope Dobbs (Isabella Flanagan) by inviting him round for tea in the hope she will move on from her relationship with troubled Will Driscoll (Lucas Hodgson-Wale).
