U has expanded the cast of its upcoming thriller Hit Point, with William Abadie and Peter Serafinowicz joining the fray – and now Radio Times can share an exclusive first look at the pair in action.
The six-part drama, which promises “an adrenaline-charged blend of high-stakes crime thriller and sizzling romantic drama”, is set to premiere this August on free streaming service U.
It follows detective partners Leo and Bella, who are played by Nick Blood (Day of the Jackal) and Saffron Hocking (Top Boy) respectively, as a new investigation draws them into the dangerous criminal underworld of West London.
“When a lion, a fox, and a jaguar (or is it a panther?), or rather three men in animal masks, intercept a Range Rover carrying ten million pounds in cash, detectives Bella and Leo are called in,” the synopsis reads.
It continues: “As they investigate, the romantic tension between them is palpable. The question is: do we actually want them to catch the criminals? All is not as it seems.”
Abadie, who’s best known for playing Antoine Lambert in Emily in Paris, is set to play the menacing crime boss Pascal Dubois (above).
Meanwhile, Serafinowicz, who Shaun of the Dead fans will recognise from his role as Pete in the film, is set to play former police officer Carter (above).
The thriller also stars Brendan Coyle (Toxic Town), Nadia Parkes (Kidnapped: The Chloe Ayling Story), Moe Bar-El (Alien: Earth), Ossian Perret (The Last Kingdom) and Joshua Sher (The Undeclared War), while behind the camera, the Gentleman director David Caffrey helms the project.
A trailer was previously unveiled for the series, showing a tense chase between Leo and Bella and a bunch of masked people, in which it’s unclear who’s chasing and who’s being chased.
The show was announced last August, with Helen Perry, head of drama commissioning for UKTV, calling it “a cop show like no other”, adding: “With his singular voice, Howard has crafted a tense crime thriller that’s driven by a characterful will-they-won’t romance. It’s a distinctive genre mash-up, full of heart, humour and action-packed sequences.”
She added: “It’s the perfect first scripted drama commission for U&Dave and U, and a marker of our ambition for drama on the channel.”
