A pub in the Midlands has appealed to parents to stop applying for jobs on behalf of their offspring.
Bosses at The Fox in Shipley, on Bridgnorth Road in Wolverhampton, shared a statement on social media about the issue.
A spokesperson said that confidence and initiative are qualities they look for in potential staff, so having a parent apply on your behalf does not bode well for job seekers.

In a statement posted on Facebook, the pub said: “We really appreciate parents thinking of The Fox for your son/daughter when we advertise vacancies.
“However, we do ask that anyone interested in working with us contacts us themselves rather than having a parent apply on their behalf.
“We’re a very busy, customer-facing pub and restaurant, so confidence, communication and a bit of initiative are really important to us. Making that first contact themselves is a great place to start!
“Please ask them to get in touch directly, tell us a little about themselves, their availability and any previous experience, and we’ll be more than happy to consider them.
“Many thanks, The Fox Team.”
Other social media users were quick to back the pub up on their stance.
One person said: “Well said. I’ve had to stop replying to the constant emails, messages and parents calling in to ask about work.
“If a young adult can’t ask for a job themselves, how on earth can I put them customer-facing!
“The world has gone mad.”
A second added: “I would never apply for a job for my kids.”
