Check your freezers: some packages of frozen fettuccine pasta are being recalled due to potential listeria contamination.
New York-based Gias Foods has recalled two lots of bettergoods brand Authentic Italian Lemon Alfredo Fettuccine, the U.S Food and Drug Administration has announced.
The pasta is sold at Walmart store locations across the country.
Frozen in 22-ounce bright yellow packages, the products have the UPC number 194346442706 with lot numbers L6079C or L6080C. The affected items have expiration dates of September 19, 2027, or September 20, 2027.
The recall was issued September 15 after routine sampling by the Washington State Department of Agriculture and the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services found that bacteria might be in the items.
Gias said no illnesses have been reported so far. The company has stopped distributing the meals. Customers who bought the product are asked to return it to where they bought it for a full refund.
The Independent has reached out to Gias for comment.
Listeria is a bacteria that can cause the infection listeriosis. It is rare and can go away on its own, but some cases can be dangerous to elderly people, pregnant women and people with already weakened immune systems.
The disease’s most common symptoms are fever and flu-like symptoms, including fatigue and muscle aches. Headaches, confusion, loss of balance and even seizures are possible.
It comes as another of Walmart’s frozen products was recalled just last week: So Delicious ice cream.
The brand’s manufacturer, Danone USA, issued a voluntary recall September 15 after it was discovered that foreign materials including “small stones and other hard objects” could be found in certain pints, according to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration.
So Delicious Dairy Free Salted Caramel Cluster Non-Dairy Frozen Dessert is the only flavor that has been affected. All pints with best-by dates on and before April 3, 2028 were recalled to be safe. Affected pints are labeled with the SKU 136603 and UPC 744473476138.
In a statement to The Independent, a Danone USA representative confirmed that the recall “is limited to this one product. No other So Delicious Dairy Free codes, flavors or products are affected.”
The ice cream was shipped to retailers nationwide and have been sold at Target and Walmart, as well as other stores. Affected pints are labeled with the SKU 136603 and UPC 744473476138.
Walmart shoppers were similarly urged to check their freezers recently after another recall expanded to include a frozen berry mix sold in 16 states.
