Anthropic finally beat OpenAI in business AI adoption — but 3 big threats could erase its lead

Anthropic finally beat OpenAI in business AI adoption — but 3 big threats could erase its lead

For the first time since the AI race began, more American businesses are paying for Anthropic’s Claude than for OpenAI’s ChatGPT. Adoption of Anthropic rose 3.8% in April to 34.4% of businesses, according to the May 2026 release of the Ramp AI Index. OpenAI’s adoption fell 2.9% to 32.3%. Overall AI adoption among businesses rose 0.2 percentage points to 50.6%. The crossover — published Tuesday by Ramp, the corporate card and finance automation platform that tracks spending patterns across more than 50,000 U.S. businesses — marks the culmination of a yearlong surge by Anthropic that few in the industry predicted. Anthropic has quadrupled its business adoption over the past year, while OpenAI grew its business adoption by only 0.3%. But the same report that crowns a new market leader also warns that Anthropic’s position may be more fragile than it appears — threatened by escalating costs, compute constraints, and the very token-based pricing model that has fueled the company’s extraordinary revenue growth. Anthropic’s share of U.S. business adoption surpassed OpenAI’s for the first time in …

Fujimori and Sanchez lead Peru’s presidential runoff as count enters final stretch

Conservative Keiko Fujimori and leftist Roberto Sanchez are leading the vote count in the final stretch of Peru’s first round April presidential ‌election, with 99.76% of ballots tallied as of Tuesday, according to electoral authorities. Peru’s ‌National Jury of Elections said the final result will be announced by May 15, after weeks of delays due to logistical failures ‌and allegations of fraud. With 99.76% of ballots counted, Fujimori, the daughter of ‌late former president Alberto Fujimori who is on her fourth run for the job, maintained a comfortable lead with 17.17% of the vote. Sanchez, who is running with the backing of jailed former leftist president Pedro Castillo, stood at 12.00%, narrowly ahead of ultra-conservative former Lima mayor Rafael Lopez Aliaga with 11.91%. Sanchez has a near 15,000-vote lead over Lopez Aliaga as results continue to trickle in through Peru’s ONPE electoral office. The country’s prolonged count has triggered fraud allegations, notably from Lopez Aliaga, and prompted the resignation of the country’s top electoral official, who is now under investigation by the public prosecutor. AI can lead to false arrests and wrongful convictions

AI can lead to false arrests and wrongful convictions

In Baltimore on Oct. 20, 2025, a 17-year-old student named Taki Allen was sitting outside his high school after football practice when an artificial intelligence-enhanced surveillance camera falsely identified the Doritos bag in his pocket as a gun. Within moments police cars arrived, officers drew their weapons and Allen was forced to his knees and handcuffed while they searched him. All they found was a crumpled bag of chips. The AI’s misidentification and the human decisions that followed turned a normal evening into a traumatic confrontation. On Dec. 24, 2025, Angela Lipps, a Tennessee grandmother, was released after spending five months in jail because facial recognition software had incorrectly connected her to fraud crimes in North Dakota, a state she had never visited. Police had arrested her at gunpoint while she was babysitting her four grandchildren. These are unfortunate examples of how AI can lead to mistreatment of people because of technical flaws as well as misplaced human faith in the technology’s supposed objectivity. These cases involve different tools, but the underlying issue is the …

“Rooster” ends with women in the lead

“Rooster” ends with women in the lead

The “Rooster” finale coincides with the end of Ludlow College’s fall semester, which inspires Greg Russo (Steve Carell) to take one last risk with the dean of faculty – showing her the galley of his new book. We’re not meant to view this as a conversation between a visiting teacher and a top administrator but as a vulnerable moment between Greg and his good, possibly best, friend Dylan Shepard (Danielle Deadwyler). They began the season as peers, of sorts; Dylan is an English professor at Ludlow, while Greg never went to college. Dylan is a poet, while Greg is a famous author. Greg’s class, “The Art of the Page Turner,” fell into his lap, and so did Dylan’s role as interim dean of faculty. But she had to fight to wrest the position permanently from the grasp of an inept, problematic man. She excels at navigating those. Greg is not among them, and yet Dylan and Greg have found themselves, several times, at opposite ends of a table used for faculty disciplinary hearings. This season …
