Diane Morgan’s Mandy Christmas special is now set to be released this year, months after it was abruptly pulled from the BBC’s 2025 festive schedule.
The special, titled The Mandy Who Knew Too Much, had been due to air on BBC Two on 22 December 2025 but was removed just days before broadcast.
The instalment was filmed in January 2025, alongside the rest of the show’s fourth season.
At the time, a BBC spokesperson confirmed to Radio Times that the episode has been moved to 2026. Now, it’s been reported that the anticipated episode will air this Christmas – however this isn’t necessarily brand new news.
When approached by Radio Times for comment on these recent reports, a BBC spokesperson re-confirmed that “the Mandy Christmas Special has been moved to 2026”. As of now, a release date has not yet been confirmed but we can safely assume the Mandy Christmas special should surely air at some point during the December festive peak.
The unexpected postponement of the episode last year was linked to last-minute edits, with the broadcaster saying at the time that they wanted to “update” parts of the episode.
The official synopsis for The Mandy Who Knew Too Much reads: “Mandy rarely dabbles in global diplomacy, especially over Christmas when it’s so cold out and there’s good telly on, but when she does, you can bet that she makes a real difference to the balance of power in the world.”

Series star and writer Diane Morgan has since addressed the matter directly, putting it down to “world events” and saying she believed the BBC had made the call “for the right reasons”.
Speaking to The Independent, Morgan insisted that the overlap with current affairs was unintentional, saying that it was “a complete accident”, adding: “I’m never one of these comedians that tries to be topical.”
The series follows the hapless, jobless Mandy Carter, whose attempts at work and get-rich-quick schemes tend to end in disaster. The BBC Two comedy returned for its fourth season in July 2025, with the broadcaster’s synopsis promising that “for once, Mandy has the perfect job”, adding: “There’s only one problem: people.”
Morgan is best known for playing spoof documentary presenter Philomena Cunk, as well as for her role in Motherland and more recently in ratings hit Ann Droid.
