And baby makes three! Prince Philippos and Princess Nina of Greece have become first-time parents. The couple welcomed their first child, a son named Kimon Thomas Constantinou, via a surrogate. While the baby was born earlier this summer in the United States, his arrival was only announced on September 1. 

“Philip De Gres and his wife, Nina, announce with great joy the birth of their first child, Kimon Thomas Constantinou, on July 27, 2026 in the United States of America,” a statement shared by the office of the former Royal Family of Greece reads, translated to English. “Kimon was born via surrogacy. Nina and Philip express their sincere gratitude to the surrogate mother and her family, who contributed to making the arrival of their son possible.”

“They would also like to express their sincere appreciation to all the medical staff and specialists, whose scientific training, care and support accompanied them throughout this journey. Philip and Nina are enjoying these first precious weeks together with Kimonas and are deeply happy to begin, together with their son, this new chapter in their family’s life.”

The couple paid tribute to Nina’s father, Thomas Flohr, with their son’s first middle name, while “Constantinou” appears to honor Philippos’ late father, Constantine II, the last king of Greece, who died in 2023.

News of Nina and Philippos’ first child comes less than four months before their sixth wedding anniversary. The new parents secretly tied the knot in December 2020 in St. Moritz, Switzerland. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, their civil ceremony was attended only by their respective fathers.

Nina later shared a photo from the private ceremony on her personal Instagram, writing: “Just married (civilly).”

The following May, the couple reportedly had a “second low-key wedding” hosted by Vogue writer Alice Naylor- Leyland and her husband Tom in Cambridge. Months later, in October 2021, Nina and Philippos’ exchanged vows in a religious ceremony held at the Metropolitan Cathedral of Athens. For the religious wedding, the bride walked down the aisle in a Chanel gown and her mother-in-law’s Antique Corsage Tiara.

Philippos is the youngest of King Constantine and Queen Anne-Marie‘s children, and one of Princess Diana’s godchildren. He proposed to Nina in the summer of 2020 on the Greek island of Ithaca. 

“My dearest Philippos. I love you today, I will love you tomorrow and forever,” Nina penned on Instagram after their engagement. “You make us happier, better and stronger. I cannot wait to spend the rest our lives together 🤍🤍🤍.”

In 2024, Philippos was among members of the Greek royal family whose Greek citizenship was reinstated. A statement at the time explained that a “Prerequisite for the reinstatement of our nationality was to declare a surname thus, we chose the one chosen by our late uncle, Michel De Gréce, that was the only familiar one to us since our family never bore a surname.

“During the years we were deprived of our citizenship, we were driven by the duty and honor of serving our country with loyalty and devotion from wherever we were, with all our means. The same principles will continue to guide the course of our family.”
